The Pinecrest girls’ soccer team can make it six straight years of winning all or a share of a regular-season conference title by defeating Jack Britt at home Monday night and Westover away on Wednesday. Monday’s Mid-Southeastern Conference date with the Buccaneers begins at 7 p.m. preceded by a junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m. The Patriots moved a step closer to that goal by winning 10-0 at Douglas Byrd on Thursday. Freshman Katie Fields broke a scoreless tie by finding the net three times within four minutes beginning in the 15th minute. Erin Cooper made it 4-0 with a header and she scored again and Stephanie Carter connected twice giving the Patriots a 7-0 lead at the intermission. Molly McGahey, Lauren Broderick and Heather Barnes scored second-half goals. Broderick was also credited with three assists. Also assisting on goals were Ann Fields (two), Toni Giangrandi, Krystal Haas, Sara Cole and Nikki Jones. Pinecrest improved to 10-0 in the league and 14-1-1 overall. <-Previous 4-22-03 vs Scotland County (W, 3-1) 4-28-03 vs Jack Britt (W, 9-0) Next-> |
