The Pinecrest boys' soccer team put an exclamation point on its domination of the Mid-Southeastern Conference with a 19-0 victory at home Wednesday night. The Patriots' school record 13th shutout win of the season makes coach Larry Martin's team 12-0 in the league and 14-5-2 overall. The regular season comes to a close next week with a Senior Night date against Seventy-First on Monday and a match at Douglas Byrd on Wednesday. Andrew Boulton and Ivan Andrade fashioned their first hat tricks as Patriots and Jon Gribben and Travis Grasso each recorded three assists. Gabe Bruno, Scott Martin, Joe Johnson and Grasso each scored a pair of goals. Mario Strata and Will Carpenter each had two assists. The victory stretched the team's unbeaten streak in league play to 47 games going back to the 2001 season. The shutout was the 11th in 12 conference matches this season. Looking ahead to the playoffs beginning the week of Nov. 3, the champions of the Mid-Southeastern will get a first round bye. In the second round, they are scheduled to play the winner of the match between the third-place team in the Two Rivers Conference and the fourth place team in the Mid-Southeastern. The Pinecrest freshmen team completed its season at 12-3 with a pair of victories. Tuesday, coach Kevin Hayes' squad defeated the Southeast Guilford junior varsity in a match played at Union Pines. Karl Ainslie and Westley Grannis scored the Patriot goals.
