The Pinecrest boys' soccer team warmed up for Monday night's crucial match at Jack Britt with a 9-0 home victory over Hoke County Wednesday night. The Patriots, led by a hat-trick by Gabe Bruno, a pair of goals by Scott Martin, and four assists by David Jannone took a 7-0 lead at the halfway mark on the way to their 10th straight shutout win in Mid-Southeastern Conference play. Other goal scorers were Erik Hayworth, Jon Gribben, Ivan Andrade and Mike Hinerth. Dustin Burns, Michael White and Travis Grasso were others contributing assists. Pinecrest improved to 12-5-2 overall while the Bucks fell to 5-10 and 4-5. The Patriots won the junior varsity match 4-1. Jack Britt, 8-1 and 12-4 suffered its only league loss three weeks ago at Pinecrest by the score of 7-0. The Bucs have three double-figure goal scorers in Rob Knox, Eric Proctor and Shawntez Zanders. They kept pace with the Patriots by defeating Westover 9-1 Wednesday. Monday's match against the Bucs begins at 7 p.m. preceeded by the jayvee contest at 5:30.
