What modifications are involved in swapping the B-16/18/H22/ZC into my vehicle?
This section will cover basic modifications involved on certain vehicles, anything more technical will have to be discussed with the mechanic doing the swap.
The 88-91 Honda Civic/ CRX will require a motor mount kit; available for $450. This kit requires no welding and since it is adapted to your current motor mounts, it is easy to put it back to stock should you need to. You need to obtain axles from a 90-93 Acura Integra. Note: if your 88-91 Civic/CRX is the DX model you will also need a 90-91 Si wiring harness or if your mechanic is able, have him modify the wiring harness to run four injectors. Shift linkage is also required.
ZC will bolt right into the 88-91 Civic/CRX. On the Si model you need no additional parts. On a DX or any other non Si model you need a wiring harness, and Si axles.
The 90-93 Acura Integra is a more straight forward swap. If your vehicle is a 90-91 model, the B16-5000 will bolt right onto your existing motor mounts with no modification. The ECU and distributor should also plug right into your existing wiring harness.
The 92-93 Acura Integra you should purchase the B16A2 motor because it has the gray plugs that will work with your harness. And swap the hydraulic tranny for a cable tranny from a B16A. Or you can try to purchase just the B16A2 without transmission. In some cases we have Second generation Cable motors. Call for breakdown pricing and availability.
The 92-up Honda Civic/ Del Sol /94-up Integra needs the B16A2/B18C5/or B18C motor. These motors bolt right in and will work on models that are not OBDII, unless you change the entire wiring harness or use the adapter by Group A Motorsports. You also need to get axles from an Integra GSR (94-up) or Civic Si (99 up).
H22 into 92+ Civic/Del Sol/94+ Integra requires a motor mount kit and axles to work.
The B18C and B18C5 are 1.8L DOHC VTEC motors and have the same fitment as the B16A2 motor (hydraulic). It will fit all the applications above that are 92-up, and use a hydraulic tranny. They have been successfully fitted to older model (88-91) Civic/CRXs. That will require motor mounts that we sell as well as an adapter for the cable to hydraulic operation.
The 90-97 Accord/ 92-96 Prelude needs the H22 motor. B16/B18 motors will not fit or work well if swapped into these cars. These cars are too heavy for the smaller motors. The H22 will bolt right into either of these vehicle. In the 92-96 Prelude it is a direct swap with no other parts required (unless you are converting to manual). For the H22 into the Accord it will also bolt right in. The 94-97 will also plug right in with only the VTEC solenoid and Knock sensor to be hooked up if your car was not VTEC in the first place. The 90-93 models require some rewiring. Consult with a mechanic for details on the 90-93 wiring requirements.
The 4G63 is from a Mitsubishi Lancer. It will fit best into the 89-94 Mitsubishi Eclipse. There are some wiring changes that need to be made but it is relatively straight forward.
All other Vehicles: Good Luck! Find a Competent mechanic to do the work!
