Will the B16 fit in my vehicle?
The quick answer to this question is yes. Any engine will fit in any car. It's just a matter of time and how much money you have to spend. The real question is: Can the B16 be easily swapped in place of your current motor? After years of selling Japanese engines we have found the most practical swaps for the B16A w/ cable tranny are: The 88-91 Honda Civic/CRX and the 90-93 Acura Integra. The bests swaps for the B16A2 hydraulic are the 92-up civic, the 93-96 Del Sol, and the 94 and up Integra. The B16A2 is a direct swap into these cars unless it is OBDII in which case you need an adapter ($299). OBDII cars are usually 96-up vehicles. The B16A won't work on the 92-up vehicles except the Integra. If you have 92-up Honda, the B16A2 is the one you need.
What is OBDII?
OBDII is On Board Diagnostics II. It is found on 96 and up Vehicles, so if your car is older than 96 you shouldn't be concerned unless you are getting and OBDII motor. If you do have a 96+ vehicle you will need an ecu adapter (about $299.95) to fit most motors into your car, because the plugs are different on the OBDII vehicles.
How much horsepower does this motor have? Why is the Type R motor so expensive?
The B16A is 160hp, B16A2 170hp, ZC 130hp, B18C 178hp, B18C5 197hp, H22 200hp, and Cyclone 4G63 220hp. The Type R is a limited production race motor. It is very rare and offers awesome performance potential. That is why the Type R is so expensive.
