Since Jess has given me 11 days to re-write the entire site, put up pics, make the doggone banner, and make sure. everything works, I am gonna cut right to the chase. I am typing really really fast, so please keep up, I do not have time to go back and repeat myself.

Patty's first album with MCA was not a commercial success, but the few critics that did review the album gave it high marks. Chalk it up to lack of promotion, which is something that would plague her during her years with MCA. This album covers the spectrum of good country music, from western swing, rockabilly, to bluegrass. The moniker, Torch Country was invented because of Patty, and two of the finest songs on the album are Half Over You and Slow Healing Heart, are a reflection of this. The first was written by Karen Staley, who recently recorded Half Over You and Wicked Ways for her own album this year. Jim Rushing who wrote "Slow Healing Heart," has provided songs, and/or background vocals for most of Patty's albums. Wicked Ways is a good rockabilly. song, which Patty sings with a lot of attitude. Just the line "What more can I do/ I through puttin up with you," is enough to make a grown man, if sober, feel like sniveling "I'm sorry", and the women yell "YOU GO GIRL." If you have a very sharp ear, and listen carefully to After All, you can hear in certain parts Patty's vocal problems that would require surgery during the recording of the album Only What I Feel. By no means does this detract from the over all quality of the album. This album also contains two songs written by Patty, which appeared on the demo, "I Did" the little country song that could, and "Sounds Of Loneliness," the song she auditioned for Porter Wagoner. A little known fact about I Did, is that country songwriting legend Harlan Howard added the speaking verse for the song.

If you read the liner notes you will see quite a few musicians and songwriters who have contributed to her albums, beginning with this one, and continuing thru to her newest greatest hits "Classics". If you are new to Patty's music, check this one out, it is an enjoyable album.

Were all of you able to keep up? I didn't type to fast did I? With only 252 hours to go until we unveil the new look, and having no sleep for the last 4 hours, I am sure you understand the incredible pressure I am facing. So, let us move quickly to the next album, and discover what delights this one holds. Will this album be another stepping stone towards an incredible career? Will Patty have her first real chart success? Most important, if she does achieve chart success, is it due to the pick up truck on the cover? Who's pick up is that anyway? Is there a metaphor the truck is trying to convey, if so, what? What nitwit came up with these last three questions??????????
