Chapter Twenty Three

The entire room was dark, and all she could make out was the outline of the figure standing in front of her. The light switched on and Alyssa could feel herself begin to shake when she saw the man standing in front of her.

"Sean..." A whimper caught in her throat as she felt his hands grab her face, Kissing her one time forefully he began shaking her shoulders. "STOP IT! PLEASE SEAN! STOP IT!" His laughter only increased as her screams echoed in the tiny room. She could hear her teeth clinking together, and all she could do was scream, and grip at his shoulders to try to gain some control over him.

Alyssa sat straight up, wiping away the beads of sweat the formed on her forehead. Running a shaky hand thorugh her hair, and down the column of her neck she let out an uneasy sigh. Slowly lowering her head back down to her pillow, she took in a series of deep breaths trying to relax and fall back asleep. It seemed to be impossible. She still couldn't ecape his laughter and the reality in her nightmare. All she kept hearing was him laughing as she yelled in pain.

Very slowy she stepped out of the bed, her feet wobbling on the carpet. She quickly pulled on a pair of jeans, and a sweatshirt, walking out of the room. She fought to keep her mind away from him, away from the nightmare, but it was near impossible. The halls were deserted and she knew that if Drew found out that she left in the middle of the night, she would be in a lot of trouble. But with the current circumstances, she didnt care at all. All she was worried about was getting out of the room, and a chance to be by herself to clear her thoughts, and steady the beating of her heart.

Her head was lowered as she walked into the elevator, her face completley covered with curls. Tucking the loose hair behind her ears, she watched as the doors opened slowly, revealing an empty lobby. A half asleep clerk was sitting at the desk, Alyssa gave him a small wave continuing outisde. The air was heavy, and thick with coldness. Her breathe was frosted in front of her, disappearing into a cloud in the darkness. For the first time since they had gotten to New York, she was relaxed. Her mind had drifted up with the stars, and they seemed to be the only thing she could concentrate on. She studied the way they shined, the way they lit up the sky. All the promise they held.

It was the only stability in her life. She didn't have a permanet home anymore, saw new people day to day. Her life was changing and it was all she could do to keep up with it.

"You really shouldnt be out here like this. Its dangerous Lyssie...you know that," Her head shot up as she watched Sean walk slowly until he stood directly in front of her.

"What are you doing here," Alyssa was surprised when her voice came out. Instead of the shaky, unnerved words she had had around him before, her voice was powerful and more defiant.

"I was going to ask you the same. I was just taking a walk really. But now that you're out here maybe we can chat a little," he gave a small smile, leaning against the side of the building beside her. Alyssa rolled her eyes turning to walk away from him.

"I SAID we were going to talk..." His fingers wrapped around her arm pulling her towards him. Her eyes widened in shock as she pressed her back against the cold wall.

"Leave me alone," She tried to pull his hands away from her arm, which only made him intensify his grip. "YOU'RE HURTING ME!" She slapped at his arm, as he released it quickly. He stepped closer to her, until she could feel him breathing against her.

"Lyssie, I'm sorry baby I just wanted to-"

"I dont care Sean. I dont want anything to do with you. I don't want to see you, hear you, be in the same room as you, and Certainly, I DO NOT want you to touch me EVER again," She slid her body away from his, walking fastly toward the building. She could hear his footsteps following behind her.

"Lyssie...ALYSSA!" His voice had now dropped to a plea. Turning around quickly she wished she never had. His face was drawn into confusion, his brown eyes clouded over with tears. "I'm so sorry..." His voice was low and gravled his eyes burning into hers.

Her bottom lip started to quiver, as she pushed her hair back slowly, continuing to walk away from him.

"Me to..." Her voice was barley a as whisper she walked back into the building, She could hear him calling to her as the doors gently closed.

"You'll be sorry! You NEED me, you just dont know it yet!" Alyssa could feel her hands begin to shake against her side, as two tear drops slid all the way down her cheek. Her feet were loud as she jogged all the way up to the third floor. Her breathing was slightly labored as she raked her fingers through her hair slowly walking down the length of the hallway. She took in a sharp breath as the door beside her creaked open and someone walked out slowly.

"Oh God JC, you scared me..." Both of her palms were flat against her chest, feeling her heart pound againt her hands rhythmically.

"Sorry, didn't mean to," JC smiled a little swooping his head down to look at her downcast face. Raising her head Alyssa stared back at him.

"Alyssa, sweetie you ok?"

"Uh huh, I-I'm fine JC," Her eyes lowered again trying not to meet his own, at fear he would see the deception burning through them.

"Did something happen?" He watched as she shook her head no softly, reaching up to wipe away the tears that trailed down her cheeks.

"I'm ok really JC. just a-a hard night..."

"You dont look like you're fine to me, come on Alyssa," He opened the door all the way letting her step inside before him. She followed him across the room as he hovered over the bed. Alyssa couldnt take her eyes off of the picture in front of her. Justin was curled up in the blankets one hand cradling his head the other resting comfortably on the bed beside him.

"Justin, Justin man wake up," JC shook him gently kneeling down beside him. His eyes fluttered once, then they squeezed shut tightly. JC groaned pulling the pillow out from under Justin's head. Justin's eyes opened completly peering straight at Jc through a sleep filled haze.

"What?!" he rubbed at his eyes a few times times trying to make them stay open.

"Something happened, you need to talk to Alyssa."

Justin suddenly felt all his sleepiness drain out as he sat straight up. His head turned slowly looking straight at Alyssa. She was sitting timidly on the corner of JC's bed. Her legs were folded up to her chest, her hair hiding her face.

"Baby, what happened," Sitting down beside her he pushed her hair behind her ear, running his hand along her face and shoulder softly.

"He-he-"

Justin knew exactly what she was going to say and all he could feel at the moment was anger. He was seeing red... and only red.

"What did he do to you? Alyssa, talk to me..."
