Jason’s fight with Vhund,
however, was over pretty quickly. He’d
followed up his various sword strikes with kicks and punches, demonstrating his
martial arts prowess. Vhund stopped trying with his sword and went straight to
overpowering blows. Jason dodged them
with expertise. He was reminded of his
battles with Goldar, Rita and Zedd’s
winged monkey warrior. Goldar, whilst powerful, was slow and lumbering, encumbered
by his armor and, later, by his wings.
Vhund brought down a
powerful blow with his hand. Jason made
it a glancing blow by shifting to the side and then cracking Vhund across the face with a stiff backhand. Jason spun on his heel again and delivered a
nose-breaking blow to Vhund’s face. It backed Vhund
away, giving Jason enough space to ignite his laserblade
and strike him across the chest with a vertical slash.
“Had enough?!” Jason
shouted.
“I…cannot fail my master again!” Vhund
struggled to get to his feet.
Jason ran two fingers up the shaft of
his laserblade, building up a forced chamber
charge. He tossed the energy build-up at
Vhund and watched as the area lit up with explosions.
Vhund collapsed and
then stood up again, growling. “I’ll be
back, Alpha Ranger! Mark my words!” And he activated his teleport beam.
His laserblade
de-powered and he raced to help his team who had engaged Fright Knight. Leaping over Sabrina and Ashley, Jason rolled
on the ground to a crouching position and fired his turbolaser,
joining the blasts from the Epsilon and Gamma Rangers. The sparks littered the air.
Bill brought his laserblade
down, a move mirrored by Maya. The Daemonite was hurled back, slamming into a parked car. As Fright Knight got back up, he growled at
the Rangers.
“You’re going to have to do better than
that, Rangers!” Fright Knight spun his
saber and fired several dark energy globules.
They exploded all around the Rangers, tossing them into one
another. Jason received the full brunt
of several of them. He rolled to the
feet of the Rangers who helped him up.
“This guy just won’t quit!”
“We’re gonna
take him down…no matter the cost!”
“I’m going to enjoy picking apart you
Rangers!” Fright Knight chuckled. “My
master will be most pleased! Maybe I’ll
even get to be general since Vhund ran from you!”
Bill pointed at him. “I wouldn’t rest on my laurels just yet,
creep!”
“Let’s break out the hardware on this
monster!”
Jason nodded. “Good thinking, Ashley.” Holding up his Battle Bracer, the other
Rangers followed the lead of their leader.
“
Their Battle Bracers morphed into their
Battle Boosters, fitting into the morphers’ spot
perfectly. Each of the numbers: “01”, “02”, and “03”, lit up while
the “Power eXtreme” button
remained off.
“eXtreme Power Weapons!” They shouted and pressed the “01” button. Holding out their arms, their weapons were
outlined in their respective colors before coalescing into view.
“Alpha Rail Guns!” Twin futuristic rifles formed at Jason’s
command.
“Betazooka!” A smoothbore tube, capped on either end with
blue and gold, formed for Bill to take.
“Gammarang!” Taking on the shape of an obtuse-angled “V”,
the Gammarang was brandished by Ashley.
“Delta Cracka!” Gripping the weapon firmly, Maya cracked it
once on the ground and smiled beneath her mask.
“Epsilon Blasters!” A pair of heavy duty futuristic magnum guns
appeared in Sabrina’s hands, gleaming in the sparse light available.
Even Fright Knight gave pause as he
stared down the Rangers.
“Light ‘im up!” Jason commanded and depressed his
trigger. The projectile weapon wielding
Rangers did the same. The Epsilon Ranger
chose neutron energy to fire, bottled in a magnetic sheath.
The Beta Ranger braced himself before
he pulled the trigger. The Betazooka cocked back, slid forward, and exploded with a
static ion grenade. The weapons’
energies fractured Fright Knight’s armor, forcing the monster back. Maya snapped her Delta Cracka
around Fright Knight’s upper torso holding him whilst Ashley rushed the
struggling monster. Leaping into the
air, she spun around and brought the Gammarang across
his chest.
Fright Knight staggered back and
roared. The Rangers surrounded him and
he knew that he wasn’t going to be able to stop them. He looked back and forth, fear gripping his
dark heart. Still, if they were to
destroy him, he would bring them with him.
The glory of his sacrifice would assure him a place in his master’s
memory.
The shadow energy globe projected at
the Rangers picked them off the ground, slamming their bodies with such force
that their morph shimmered for a moment.
“Harsh!” Ashley cried out.
The monster’s roar as he rushed them
filled their ears. He knocked them around
a bit more, taking special care to give a few extra knocks to the Alpha Ranger.
“Rangers!” Sean’s voice came to life in their
helmets. “Bring
your weapons together to form the Omega Blaster!”
The “02” on the Battle Bracers started
to blink and Jason nodded. “Omega Blaster!” And he pressed the button. The other Rangers did the same. Immediately, light pulses coruscated in their
helmets, feeding information directly into their brains. They nodded in unison, knowing what to do.
Jason brought the Alpha Rail Guns
together, forming a large rifle base.
The handles turned up and he tossed it into the air where Ashley’s Gammarang attached to the top. The Betazooka
attached to the underside of the Alpha Rail Guns whilst the Epsilon Blasters’
handles swung backwards and joined to the undersides of the Gammarang. Maya leapt into the air, watching the whip
retract into the handle. A port on the
rifle base opened up and she inserted the Delta Cracka
into it, forming the Omega Blaster’s trigger.
Jason leapt, too, grabbed the weapon, brought it down, and pointed it at
Fright Knight.
“Omega Blaster locked on!” Jason shouted.
Fright Knight growled again, roaring
and rushing the Alpha Ranger.
“Do it!” Bill cried.
Jason nodded. “OMEGA BLAST…FIRE!” He pulled the Delta Cracka
back and then pushed it forward. He
could feel his uniform’s structural forcefield
intensify to protect him against the recoil.
Still, it was a big enough shock and it almost knocked the breath out of
him.
From every port, different colored
energies coalesced and joined together, forming a multicolored power
column. It screamed across the air, so
much power going into it. When it hit
Fright Knight, his armor melted immediately, singeing every hair from his body
before consuming his matter in the awesome might of the Omega Blast.
“YEAH!”
The Rangers shouted in unison.
Jason smiled beneath his helmet and made a check mark gesture with his
hand whilst shouldering the Omega Blaster.
The neighborhood started to clear, letting the sunshine in and making
for a beautiful morning.
“…TO THE EXTREME!” The Alpha Ranger
announced and teleported away with his team.
