Jack began to wander about the Californian, in hopes of clearing his mind. Jack still felt like hell, and it hurt something awful when he walked (or waddled), but Jack just couldn't lay down any longer. He finally found the deck, and walked out and peered at the shoreline of Boston, coming into view. Jack then looked at his side, and began to whisper feverently, "Rose, I know you are here beside me. Please help me in the coming months, I don't know how I am going to live without you. I never thought that I would survive that night. I thought that you would, not the other way around. Life has played another cruel trick on us, but I won't let this turn me sour. I am just going to live my life, just as I told YOU to live it. Every night, when I close my eyes, it is unreal Rose, I see you, and I feel you! That is what is going to keep me going on! No matter how far you may be, I know that in spirit, you are here, our love was that strong! I love you Rose." Jack then laughed, he had just talked to a ghost! Ha ha...Jack couldn't fathom the thought that he now believed in ghosts. He had always thought that people who believed were foolish idiots, who were just trying to make a quick penny. The joke was on me, Jack thought, well, now I know different....
"Hey, I didn't think that you were able to walk..." Lord's voice boomed out from behind Jack, causing Jack to jump. Lord placed a on Jack's shoulder and laughed, "scared you did I? Sorry. We are docking at Boston, and I want you to stick with me so I can get you into the hosptial as soon as possible. I will leave the rest of the tasks to the rest of the officers...time they earned their keep anyways! Anyways, I have made contact with one of my cousins, and she and her husband are looking for a boarder to look after the kids, whom are 10 and 8, and help her keep up the house. This may not be a cup of tea, but it would be a roof over your head, and food in your stomach after you get out of the hospital. Is this ok for you Jack?"
Jack nodded, "Yes, I love kids, and whatever I can do to help is no problem with me if they are willing to put a roof over my head and feed me. How can I thank you enough?? "
Lord shook his head, "maybe after you are well you can work for me on my boat every once in awile. You are the one that I should be thanking, I am already in a heap of trouble with the whole Titanic situation, I don't want to have more attension brought to me! So, thank you Jack."
Jack smiled a meak smile, "ok, so we're even?" Jack stuck out his hand and Lord shook it, "great!" A crew member alerted Jack and Lord that the ship was ready to dock.
Lord looked at Jack, "want to learn how to dock a ship?"
Jack, smiling followed Lord into the bridge, and for a moment forgot about the pain of loosing Rose.
