Lothlórien
Lothlórien
is east of the Misty Mountains not far from the exit of Moria. It is a
forest of mallorn trees which are trees that bear yellow fruit in the spring and
do not lose their leaves in the winter, but instead they turn to gold.
Only just before spring do they lose their leaves only to be immediately
replaced by new green ones. The Elves of this land live deep in the heart
of the forest and only few ever journey abroad. Until the Fellowship
passed through it, it was unknown whether or not elves still lived in the
wood. The rulers of the wood are Celeborn and Galadriel.
