Exclusive AGCSWF Interviews
Christian's Interview of Razor (11-26-2009):
This is Christian Crawford, bringing you another exclusive AGCSWF scoop. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I finally managed to get ahold of the elusive Razor - a man who has held all of the Federation's major titles in his storied career, and was a founding member of such popular cliques as the Hometown Boyz and the Renegades. The five-time World champion readily accepted my offer to write a note for the fans, which you can now find on our main page. Razor also agreed to answer a few questions, provided I didn't try to dig too deeply into his personal life. With that in mind, I prepared a short list of queries related solely to his association with the AGCS Wrestling Federation. The champ, while seemingly a bit distracted at times, was more than willing to give honest and straightforward answers, which I have reprinted for you here. Christian: It's been a long time since we had the opportunity to sit down and talk. The question that I have been asked most often by our fans involves a "surprise" that you and Crash mentioned in our last interview. Razor: (laughs) Allow me to hazard a guess - something to do with an AGCSWF reunion event? Christian: Exactly. You've stated on the record that you would be willing to defend your World championship once more, should the opportunity arise. What I (and the fans) would like to know is, will the promised one-night-only show actually take place? Razor: Well, first of all, I feel that I owe an apology to those fans who read our interview in 2007 and got excited at the prospect of such an event. Crash and I never meant to make empty promises; we fully expected to be able to host our reunion show in the not-too-distant future. Believe me, we were looking forward to it as much as anybody else was. However, we need for people to understand is that this sort of thing is truly a logistical nightmare. I can guarantee you that if I called up Crash tonight and asked him to wrestle this weekend, he'd be there. But there are many more superstars who helped to make the Federation what it was, and attempting to track them all down and pull them together in one building for a single show has proven to be much more difficult than we initially imagined. However, we are still determined to make this happen. I can't say precisely when, but it is our hope that this dream will soon become a reality. Christian: I appreciate your candor on the subject. I think that you and Crash can certainly be forgiven to some extent, given the fact that so many years have passed since the final show, and most of the former superstars have moved on with their lives. You will keep us updated on any future progress, won't you? Razor: Definitely. I am looking forward to putting my championship on the line against the best and brightest that the AGCSWF has to offer, if only for one last bittersweet time. And I can assure you that there are still quite a few scores to be settled within the ranks of the Federation. I know I speak for many of us when I say that having the chance to get out there and perform for our dedicated fans is something we all miss terribly. We would love to see this long-awaited event finally come to fruition, and Crash and I will do everything in our power to make it happen. Christian: Excellent news, Razor. Speaking of championships, you are one of the most decorated superstars in the history of the Federation. Ever since the day you relinquished the Lightheavyweight championship to go after more prestigious gold, you seemed to continually surpass all expectations. What was your secret? Razor: I don't know that there was one specific "secret" to my success. I was kind of an all-or-nothing guy when it came to the squared circle. My reasoning was that if I stepped into the ring and gave everything I had, I would have nothing to be ashamed of at the end of the night, whether I won or lost. I took a lot of risks and did some things I'm not too proud of, but you know what? It worked for me. I was also blessed with a resilient body, which allowed me to take tremendous amounts of punishment and still keep getting back up. Of course, it helped to surround myself with like-minded individuals who would always be there to watch my back - for example, the Renegades. I went out there and took what I wanted, and I still have my World title belt to prove it. Christian: Indeed, we all remember the horrific torture that you were willing to inflict upon yourself in order to be the best. That leads me to my next set of questions - what was the worst injury you suffered during your time in the ring, and conversely, which match would you consider to be your favorite? Razor: Ahh, a two-part question. Well, when it comes to injuries, take your pick. I had my fair share of strains, sprains, lacerations and abrasions, but then we all did. I think the concussions and the broken limb I suffered were among the worst, the main reason being that they kept me out of action for weeks. You can't exactly "play through the pain" when it comes to a head injury or an arm in a cast - obviously that would be extremely dangerous, and to its credit, the Federation would not allow us to perform in such a condition. As far as my favorite match is concerned, it's very difficult for me to pick just one, though a couple do spring to mind. My tag-team ladder match with Crash against the Establishment, where a briefcase containing "incriminating files" was suspended above the ring; or my triple threat match against Adam and Dustin, where I won the World championship. That victory also coincided with the inception of the Renegades, the clique I had always dreamed of being a part of, so it was very special to me. Again, though, it's virtually impossible for me to single out a particular contest that I would consider to be my absolute favorite. Christian: Well, it looks like we're about out of time. I want to sincerely thank you for sitting down with me today; I'm sure the fans will be very happy to get your perspective on some of these issues. Tell me, will we be seeing more of you in the future? Razor: Count on it. I still have a lot of fight left in me, and I know there are plenty of guys out there who would love another shot at my title. To them I say, bring it on! Christian: Five-time AGCSWF World champion, Razor.
Shawn's Sit-Down With Crash and Razor (08-16-2007):
Shawn: I'd like to begin with the obvious question - do you miss the AGCSWF? Razor: Definitely. Those were some of the best times of our lives - we were truly on top of the world back then. Crash: And you know, it's not just the fact that the AGCSWF is gone - it's that the end came about so quickly, and without warning. Most of the guys were totally unprepared, and a lot of people never got a chance to say their goodbyes. Shawn: Let's talk about the final show. What was the atmosphere like? Razor: Tense. Depressing - but most of us were still holding out hope that it'd only be temporary, that the people in charge would see the error of their ways. So, the gravity of the situation had yet to fully register in our minds. Crash: Exactly. It just hadn't sunk in with a lot of people that hey, this is really the end. It's not a gimmick or a stunt; it's the death of our careers. On the other hand, I remember a shared feeling of accomplishment and reverence - we were all grateful to have been given the chance to perform. Shawn: Which brings me to my next question - will the AGCSWF ever reopen? Razor: Well, yes and no... Crash: Actually, it's a big maybe; no one seems to know for sure. In my opinion, it's highly unlikely that the AGCSWF could return fulltime - but I don't like to say "never." Razor: Even if they did manage to track down all the former superstars and sign them to brand-new contracts, I just don't think it would be the same. Now don't get me wrong - I would love an opportunity to wrestle for the Federation again. As a matter of fact, we have some exciting news which happens to be related to this particular topic. You want to take it from here, Crash? Crash: You know it. Razor and I would like to take this opportunity to announce a very special, one-night-only AGCSWF reunion event on Pay-Per-View! We're getting some of our old friends and enemies together for a series of non-sanctioned bouts; the selection process will be randomized, so no one can accuse us of cheating or handicapping. And because these matches aren't approved by the Federation, you know you're going to witness some brutal, bloody action - the kind of stuff we never could have gotten away with back in the day! Razor And we got away with a lot. Shawn: I'm practically speechless. This is incredible news! What else can you tell us? Razor: We can't reveal too many more details just yet. As of this moment, we don't even have a timeframe - all I can say is that it will happen sooner than you think, and you won't want to miss it for the world. Crash: Just be there! Shawn: I will, you can count on that. Now, we only have time for a few more questions - Crash and Razor, what do you remember most fondly about your days in the AGCSWF? Crash: The cheers of the fans; nothing pumps you up quicker. Over time, though, I learned to enjoy the boos just as much (both laugh). Razor: That indescribable feeling you get when the referee hands you that big, shiny gold belt and you hoist it above your head for the first time. Simply amazing. Shawn: After all is said and done, do you have any regrets? Crash: I wish I'd kept in touch with everyone after it all fell apart. Razor: Same here. Other than that, I probably wouldn't change a thing. In life, we have no choice but to move forward, and the Renegades have always looked to the future. Believe me, that won't change. Shawn: Wise words from the 5-time World champion to close out a revealing interview. Shawn's AGCSWF Update (??-??-??): When I journeyed over to Crash's place for a special, final edition of AGCSWF: Under the Stairwell, Razor showed up just before we were done, and the two old friends engaged in wistful recollection of their glory days. Crash and Razor still keep in close contact, and occasionally see "Triple-D" Dustin Day. Crash said that he and his fellow Renegade had recently spoken with "Action Jim" Jared Brison, Freeze and "Big R" Russell Davis, but have not heard from many other AGCSWF superstars since the end of the Federation. Razor told me that Ruudboy is still in the area and doing well for himself, although they haven't actually seen him in a few years. Ruudboy was quoted as having said that the infamous Adam Taylor, who disappeared after the closing of the AGCSWF, had moved back to his hometown to raise his family. Crash and Razor seemed very interested in getting some of the old superstars together for a reunion, and when that happens you know we will have pictures and exclusive commentary from the event.
