May 14-18 2004 PhotographsThe crew on this trip consisted of: Warren Anderson, Brien Johnson, Dan Eisinger, Lach Dunlop, Matt Wright and Chris Wright. We had another great trip this year! The water level was up but the water temp was down (47 degrees). It was mostly cold, rainy and damp so we were thankful that there wasn't a fire ban. The temps were in the 30 to 50 degree range. We had wind intermittently but it couldn't decide which direction to come from. Fishing was slow but we had a meal at camp and still got our limits. While the numbers were down the sizes were up. Lach got a 10 pounder and the trophy! Dan had an 8 pounder. Both fish were released. We released quite a few fish that where over-sized. Once again, the food could not be beat. We have almost gotten to the point where all meals include some kind on venison. We even had venison brats this year! The highlight though, was the deep fryer. We had our meal of fresh Walleye along with fresh freedom fries deep fried to perfection right there on the island. Definitely a new tradition. As if we needed any more. :) And to cap it all off, the Knarly breakfast was incredible! The usual suspects from St. Peter were at Powell's again. Pat, Sammy, Stan and the rest of the guys stayed toasty warm in their cabins while we tented it in the cold. They did invite us over (or did we invite ourselves over?) to warm up and have a few beers. Pat ponied up for Michelob this year. I knew that guy was rich!
Highlights: Lach's 10 pound walleye. The new deep fryer. The top secret things in the camo bag. Toys from Dan and Knarly (knot tie tool and led light). A Tuesday visit by our friendly U.S. Forest Service Agents, nose rings and all! Lowlights: Dan broke a spring on his trailer. Warren forgot the base for the deep fryer (luckily, Dave Johnson had left a couple of spares at Powell's). I forgot my new bib overalls. Many other minor snafus too numerous to mention. Oh, and crappy weather.
