I never thought much about the Lutheran religion until I lived in Morris, where they are very prevalent (almost 3/4 of the churches have a lutheran backgound). I decided to do a site today (1/18/05) after trying to remember the Lutheran prayer I hear many times now over the years living here prior to a meal...
Common Table Prayer
"Come Lord Jesus be our guest, let this food to us be blessed."
I've been to several different Lutheran Churches throughout Minnesota for different functions, such as: services, potlucks, bake goods fundraiser, etc... I was invited to speak at a local church in Morris about my work with developmentally disabled adults in a group home. A co-worker that attends this church referred me to this place
*spoke at a women's day bible study group (invited by my co-worker, Elda Gades, which I shared about my involvement in the group home and the need of volunteers. Also attended several "Meatball" supper fundraisers. Went to a Word Alone meeting one Saturday morning in the winter of 2005. Lastly, my part-time job at PCS has had many inservices, meetings, or conferences here.
*acquiantance with Pastor Jarvis through swimming at the RFC at tiems and other community functions (e.g. Picnic in the Park). Also, attended a funeral here for my associate pastor's dad's.
