7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Water.
It's nature's precious elixir--so powerful it can carve our landscape,
yet so nurturing it can spawn life and support its intricate matrix.
And it's the only substance on Earth that can exist in three separate
forms at the same temperature--liquid, solid, and gas. We take it for
granted, yet compared to other natural compounds, it's a genuine
oddity. We'll paint a vivid portrait of this common entity that's
anything but as we explore water's multidimensional character--from
its place in the $10-billion bottled water industry to its critical
role in a Canadian nuclear reactor. We watch it flow from huge
irrigation machines that have revolutionized American agriculture,
blast 200 miles into space from a newly discovered geyser on one of
Saturn's moons (via computer animation), coaxed from the clouds by
chemical injection, captured by innovative "fog-catchers", and cascade
with artistic flair from compressed air jets at the Fountains of
Bellagio in Las Vegas.

8-9pm -- Tougher In Alaska - Extreme Isolation
Alaska's southeast panhandle is cut off from the rest of the world by
steep coastal mountains on one side and the stormy North Pacific Ocean
on the other. Hundreds of remote communities exist on the area's
numerous islands. Join host Geo Beach as he explores the region to see
how people get by with almost no roads. Juneau, Alaska's capital can
be reached only by air or water, and there are no telephone or power
lines connecting it to the outside world--or even, the rest of the
state. Geo helps blast an underground rock tunnel for a hydroelectric
powerhouse that will tap a glacial lake to power Juneau, and works
with flying telephone workers to install and maintain microwave
repeaters on top of snowy and stormy mountains.

9-10pm -- Evolve - Eyes
They are one of evolution's most useful and prevalent inventions.
Ninety five percent of living species are equipped with eyes and they
exist in many different forms. Learn how the ancestors of jellyfish
may have been the first to evolve light-sensitive cells. Discover how
dinosaur's evolved eyes that helped them become successful hunters.
Finally, learn how primates evolved unique adaptations to their eyes
that allowed them to better exploit their new habitat, and how the
ability to see colors helped them find food.

10-11pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Cannibal Dinosaur
In 1998, a team of paleontologists working on the island of Madagascar
uncover the remains of Majungatholus--one of the most terrifying
predators of its age. However, several bones are found to hold bite
marks from another predator. Modern crime scene investigative methods
are used to measure the bite marks, and together with evidence found
at another site, the attacker is identified as another Majungatholus;
thus uncovering the first authentic case of dinosaur cannibalism.
Experts recreate a scenario of what occurred when a male Majungatholus
went in search of a mate, but found a non-receptive female who was
more interested in protecting her young than mating.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Mummy Tech.
After thousands of years, Egyptian mummies are speaking from the
grave. With the use of state-of-the-art computer tomography scanning,
known as CT-scanning, we explore inside a 2,000-year-old mummified
body of an Egyptian child. With today's technology, mummies are
studied without being unwrapped. Researchers travel around inside the
mummy's head and body with 3-D imagery. We meet Dr. Robert Brier, a
renowned Egyptologist. Dr. Brier reveals secrets of Mummification--it
took up to 70 days to preserve the dead. Aided by new technology, we
investigate the death of one of the most famous mummies, King Tut. Was
he murdered or did he die from an illness? We also uncover the case of
the Mummy who lay in obscurity for over a hundred years, until modern
science unlocked the secrets of his identity as an Egyptian pharaoh.
And we join a team of conservationists as they build a nitrogen-filled
glass display case to provide a safe sanctuary to prevent mummies from
decay.

8-10pm -- Prehistoric Monsters Revealed -
99% of all animal and sea creatures who ever lived have become
extinct. Watch as some of the most bizarre and strangest creatures are
brought back to life. Meet the nothronychus (a strange amalgam of bird
and sloth), the anomalocarus (a 7-foot shrimp), as well as
saber-toothed cats, mastodons and wooly rhinoceros. Advanced computer
graphics, location shooting and expert interviews, will reveal
detailed illustrations of what these ancient monsters looked like,
where and how they lived, and how they died.

10-12am -- Journey to 10,000 BC -
Discover the thrilling real story of life on earth in prehistoric
times. Viewers will go back in time to when early humans are just
starting to inhabit North America and huge climate fluctuations cause
a mini-Ice Age. The saber tooth cat, the giant ground sloth and the
woolly mammoth are suddenly becoming extinct. How does man survive?
Travel to early archaeological sites in North America and watch as
scientists uncover fossilized bones, ancient homes and weapons of
stone. State-of-the-art green-screen computer animation re-creates the
great mammoth hunts of the time.

7-8pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 17 - Man Down
Bear and Eric must haul a boiler and a flare stack--two critical
pieces of equipment--to Langley at the same time that a polar bear is
spotted in the area. In this region of the Arctic, polar bears have
been known to kill humans, so the truckers must now be on guard
against this new danger. Rick is irate about a 5-day-long trip that
his bosses assign him, and his frustration mounts along with his
threats to quit. Alex's health continues to deteriorate and he must be
med-evaced to the Yellowknife hospital, his fate unknown.

8-9pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 18 - A Trucker's Farewell
After being Med-Evaced to Yellowknife hospital, Alex receives a grim
diagnosis that could mean the end of his Ice Road season. Rick is also
complaining of health issues, and again threatens to quit if his boss
won't let him take time off to see a doctor. With nearly all of the
rookies out for the count, the Arctic veterans take on the challenge
of hauling the final loads of the rig move. Bear must load up the
P-Tank, a critical part used to measure the amount of waste gas
emitted by a drilling rig. And Eric sets off on a slow journey to
transport a mud pump from Aput to Langley. Weighing in at 100,000
lbs., the massive size of this complicated piece of machinery requires
a speed limit of just 16 mph--any faster and Eric would risk damaging
the already taxed ice road.

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 19 - A Rookie Fumbles
It's a race against time to dismantle the Mallik Research site before
the ice road melts, but while scientists are on the verge of an
historic breakthrough, the truckers are starting to haul away
equipment piece-by-piece. Hugh is given the challenging task of
training a new driver, Isaac, whose driving test is just days away.
The first lesson gets off to a rocky start, which is a bad omen for
Isaac's chances of making it as a trucker. One of the trucks in Rick's
convoy has mechanical trouble, forcing the driver to decide whether to
abandon his rig or continue on, risking hypothermia and even death.
Drew embarks on a box-truck run, which is not as prestigious as
driving the big rigs, but will deliver a crucial corrosion inhibitor
to the people of Aklavik, a tiny community on the Mackenzie River.

10-11pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Cannibal Dinosaur

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Tobacco.
Discovered around 18,000 years ago, tobacco was first cultivated in
the Andes between 5000 and 3000 B.C. At a modern tobacco farm in North
Carolina, a farmer will show us how the crop is harvested and cured
and we'll visit the Fuente cigar plantation in the Dominican Republic.
While tobacco has brought pleasure to countless smokers the world
over--it has sent millions to an early grave. In an interview with the
Surgeon General, we will explore this leading public health issue. The
show will also look at smokeless methods of consumption as well as
explore the use of nicotine replacement therapy.

8-9pm -- Ancient Discoveries - Ancient Computer?
Journey back in time for an eye-opening look at the amazing ancient
roots of technologies we like to think of as modern. New research
suggests that many of the inventions of the last 200 years may, in
fact, have already been known to the ancients. In this hour, we
explore the Antikythera mechanism, an ancient machine that was
discovered deep in the Aegean Sea. Could it perhaps have been an
ancient computer? Could Archimedes have had a hand in its creation?

9-12am -- China's First Emperor -
He would become an emperor more powerful than Napoleon, capture more
territory than Alexander the Great and create the largest army the
world has ever seen. In 240 B.C. Chin Shi Huang Di, ruler of the Qin
Kingdom, rose to power, defeated six states and created an empire that
would lay the groundwork for modern day China. Learn about the life
and times of this unique leader and see what still remains of the Qin
Dynasty today--from the Great Wall of China to the army of 8,000
life-sized terracotta warriors and horses that guard his empire in the
afterlife, inspiring the current Mummy movie sequel.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Bread
It's the basic source of nourishment for half the world--bread. Bake
it, roast it, slice it, toast it--it's a wonder that three simple
ingredients, flour, water and salt, can be transformed into so many
different shapes and tastes. From baguettes to pita, from corn bread
to flour tortillas, every culture finds a way to make it and bake it.

8-9pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Cannibal Dinosaur
In 1998, a team of paleontologists working on the island of Madagascar
uncover the remains of Majungatholus--one of the most terrifying
predators of its age. However, several bones are found to hold bite
marks from another predator. Modern crime scene investigative methods

thus uncovering the first authentic case of dinosaur cannibalism.
Experts recreate a scenario of what occurred when a male Majungatholus
went in search of a mate, but found a non-receptive female who was
more interested in protecting her young than mating.

9-10pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - T-Rex Hunter
Tyrannosaurus rex was the most feared predator on earth--but to one
dinosaur, he was prey. A discovery in Montana reveals the broken and
fractured bones of a juvenile T-rex, and the teeth of its
attacker--Nanotyrannus. As modern crime scene investigative methods
are used, paleontologists get an unprecedented look into a 65
million-year-old battle. Modern CAT scanning gives science a never
before look into the functions of the brains of Tyrannosaurus and
Nanotyrannus. Watch as experts recreate what happened when
Nanotyrannus came upon an unguarded juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex.

10-11pm -- Evolve - Guts
It doesn't just take willpower to survive. It takes guts--in the form
of a digestive system that turns food into fuel. Look closely at the
role guts have played in shaping some of Earth's most successful
animals: tyrannosaurs, snakes, cows, humans and others. Take a
575-million year journey that begins with the planet's first
multi-cellular organisms and ends at our dinner tables. Watch as
live-action natural history sequences, CGI, epic docudrama, and
experimental science help to illustrate our and our fellow species'
eternal struggle for survival on earth.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Mad Electricity
Nikola Tesla's bizarre vision of the future brought him failure, but
his genius electrified the world. Travel to Niagara Falls, where in
1893, Tesla installed his new system of Alternating Electrical Current
known as AC--the same power we use today. Uncover the forgotten ruins
of Tesla's dream experiment---a huge tower on Long Island Sound he
hoped would wirelessly power the world. Radar, death rays,
invisibility devices and earthquake machines: Tesla claimed to have
created them all. More than 100 years ago Tesla foresaw the need for
alternative energies like geothermal and solar.

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Chupacabra
In 1995, a beast dubbed "El Chupacabra," spanish for "The Goatsucker,"
was first sighted and accused of killing and draining the blood of
hundreds of farm animals in Puerto Rico. Eyewitnesses describe it as a
two-legged reptile-like beast with sharp claws and sharper fangs. But
another rash of sightings, and killings, in Texas last year produced
eyewitness descriptions of a creature that looked very different. This
episode will go on the hunt for the Texas chupacabra. And for first
time on television, DNA tests will be performed on evidence from both
the Puerto Rico and Texas sightings in effort to scientifically prove
just what these mystery beasts could be.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Vampires in America
A vampire scare in New England in the 1700s lasted more than a century
and turned families and communities upside down. The dead bodies of
those suspected of vampirism were exhumed and ancient curse-breaking
rituals were performed on them. Watch as the latest technology is used
to analyze historic evidence of the New England vampires and discover
if there was any basis for the panic. Medical science is also used to
examine those who believe themselves to be modern day vampires. Is
there a common element between the suspected vampires of America's
past and present?

10-11pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 19 - A Rookie Fumbles
It's a race against time to dismantle the Mallik Research site before

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Engineering Disasters 12.
In Milwaukee, 104 died after drinking contaminated tap water. At Texas
A&M, a tradition turned tragic when a pile of bonfire logs collapsed
onto its builders. Thousands of US soldiers expired in known WWII
deathtraps--Sherman Tanks. In 1973, 14 men working on a 26-story
building died when supports were removed from wet concrete. And in
1993, Denver's "dream" airport became a nightmare when its
baggage-handling system ran amok. Aided by computer graphics,
catastrophe footage, and visits to the locations today, MIT
scientists, Center for Disease Control experts, WWII vets, bonfire
builders, and construction engineers explain these tragedies and
measures taken to prevent them in future.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Trucks.
Icons of the open road, trucks form the backbone of the construction
and transportation industries. The facility to handle nearly any load
and the ability to deliver goods almost anywhere make trucks integral

parking lot hookup called IdleAire; complete with heat, air
conditioning, a telephone line, a computer with high speed internet,
and of course satellite TV. We'll also see how 30,000 gallon
underground diesel storage tanks are manufactured. And we'll weigh and
inspect a truck while it's barely slowing down. In an interview with
Willie Nelson, we'll explore one of the most unique truck stops in the
United States and the revolutionary fuel it sells: biodiesel.

10-11pm -- The Works - Sneakers
Why are sneakers so essential to modern life? Host Daniel H. Wilson
will uncover the story of a multi-billion dollar global industry that
inspires music, movies and has its own subculture. Some scientists
even believe sneakers may represent the next step in human evolution!

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 20 - Highway Maggots
With the sun beating down on the ice, the road is melting at an
accelerating rate. This means that it's all hands on deck for the
demobilization of the drilling sites at Langley and Mallik, which must
be broken down and hauled away before they're swallowed up by Arctic
waters. Northwind owner Kurt leaves his office behind and jumps into a
truck to contribute to the effort. Kurt meets a convoy of "highway
maggots" on the way and has nothing but choice words for this group of
"scab" drivers from the south. Trucker Jim volunteers for a dangerous
mission; he'll haul three sled trailers at once, carrying two diesel
tanks and drilling supplies in one mega-load. With the close of the
season in sight, Eric and Hugh continue to vie for the title "King of
the Ice Road." Eric holds the lead for the moment, but Hugh is making

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Paint.
From the Impressionist canvas to the Space Shuttle...from customized
hotrods to the brilliant orange hue of the Golden Gate Bridge or tiny
electronic devices--paint is one of our most ubiquitous products. And
paint adds more than just pigmentation. It's a crucial engineering
element, protecting ships from water corrosion, stovetops from heat,
and the Stealth Bomber from radar detection. In homes and businesses,
it provides a balanced spectrum of light and protects surfaces from
wear. In this colorful hour, we discover how this marvel of chemistry
and engineering is made, and how it is applied. Come see what's
beneath the surface as we reveal one of man's most ingenious methods
of defeating the elements and adding spice to life!

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Carbon
It is the chemical basis of all known life and yet this simple element
is also the foundation of modern technology. Carbon burns hotter, cuts
deeper, insulates more thoroughly and absorbs more fully than any
other material. See why carbon is the key both in heavy-duty
industries, as well as in tools like the graphite pencil, the charcoal
water filter, and the diamond saw blade. Watch how carbon fiber, a
material stronger than steel and lighter than fiberglass, is made into
the fuselage of a new Boeing 787. Discover why "activated charcoal" is
the material of choice for absorbing everything from toxic heavy
metals in your drinking water to funky odors in your shoes.

9-11pm -- Hillbilly: The Real Story -
This two-hour special, hosted by celebrity Billy Ray Cyrus, brings
these mythic people to life through stories that span 300 years.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Harvesting 2.
In America's orchards and farm fields, the constant struggle between
hand labor and mechanization has produced dozens of efficient and
sometimes bizarre harvesting methods. We'll learn the secrets of the
orchard manager and his ladder crew as they check fruit pressures and
barometric readings. We'll visit California's largest fruit packing
house and try to keep up with 10-fruit-per-second conveyors. Then
we're off to the corn fields of Nebraska and the cranberry marshes of
central Wisconsin. Finally, we'll go underground to the world's
largest mushroom farm where the harvest takes place in limestone
caverns that run some 150 miles. From fruit tree picking platforms to
cranberry beaters and corn pickers, we constantly strive to speed the
harvest.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Coin Operated
Every 15 minutes, Americans insert over 3.5 million coins into vending
machines. We'll visit a sprawling factory that mass produces the
latest in high-tech vending machines, and a small company that makes a
giant gumball machine that holds 40,000 gumballs. Then, there's the
dreaded parking meter, including new ones that can take credit cards
and text message for help when they are being robbed or vandalized.
We'll visit America's last pinball factory, and see what strange coin
operated fare kept people amused 100 years ago. Is coin counting
Coinstar the ultimate coin operated machine? We'll follow their coins
all the way to a Brinks warehouse. Our last stop is Marvin's Marvelous
Mechanized Museum, housing some of the weirdest coin-op machines ever
invented. If seeing a life-sized, robotic old man vomit is your idea
of entertainment, drop a couple of quarters into "Dr. Ralph
Bingenpurge". Now, that's money well spent.

9-10pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Gang Killers
In south central Montana, a group of bird-like predators called
Deinonychus are unearthed, altering our view of dinosaurs forever.
Scientists are quick to recognize that these creatures, equipped with
a deeply recurved sickle-shaped claw, do not fit into the image of a
slow-moving, cold-blooded dinosaur. Lying next to the skeletons of
these raptors were the remains of a large plant-eating dinosaur called
Tenontosaurus. Modern CAT Scanners help scientists get a
never-before-seen look into how these animals moved, fought and
behaved. Watch as experts recreate what happened when a pack of deadly
raptors took on an adversary more than twice their own size.

10-11pm -- Evolve - Jaws
It's one of the most important developments in the history of life. An
adaptation that lets animals kill, butcher, and devour. There is
perhaps no instrument more important to survival than a strong set of
jaws. From the shark's rows of razor-sharp serrated teeth, the
crocodile's overwhelmingly swift-snapping-trap, to the lion's
shredding canines--all have evolved in response to the never-ending
struggle between predator and prey. But just how did these ultimate
killing weapons develop in the first place?

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Farming Technology.
The US agricultural process, from seed to shelf, is so efficient that
most people don't think much about it. But food growing and processing
is ever more sophisticated, employing computer-guided, ground-shaking
machinery, and sometimes controversial techniques. It's an industry of
declining family farms, diminishing returns, yet higher yields. We
review the evolution of the tools used to produce food, show the steps
in the cycle that bring food to the table, and look at the future of
farming.

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Legend of the Hairy Beast
Native American history is full of "Hairy Man" stories and cave art
that date back over a thousand years. Did Native Americans know the
truth behind the Bigfoot legend? An expedition along the Klamath River
into reservation land will use state of the art technology to search
for something locals don't doubt is real. With unprecedented access to
Native American stories and recent sightings, MonsterQuest examines
this creature that is both feared and revered as Bigfoot.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Boneless Horror
Throughout history there have been sightings of a massive Octopus big
enough to attack and sink boats. Could such a creature really exist?
Our divers probe the depths of the North Pacific where the world's
largest known species of octopus lives. Could these octopuses be a
food source for a monster? The investigation will use various
underwater camera systems, including a tiny camera small enough to
probe inside octopus lairs. Deep waters, rough currents, freezing
temperatures and the prospect of encountering a 20-ton boneless horror
make this a dangerous expedition.

10-11pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 20 - Highway Maggots
With the close of the
season in sight, Eric and Hugh continue to vie for the title "King of
the Ice Road." Eric holds the lead for the moment, but Hugh is making
a final push that might put him out in front.

7-8pm -- History's Mysteries - Ship of Gold.
In 1857, en route to New York from California, the steamship Central
America vanished in a killer storm off North Carolina's coast, taking
with her 400 passengers and nearly 21 tons of gold bullion. Here is
the story of the worst US peacetime sea disaster, and how high-tech
treasure hunters recovered her fortune over 130 years later.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Overseas Highway.
A spectacular roadway nearly 120 miles long, the Overseas Highway
links mainland Florida with the Florida Keys, and contains 51 bridges,
including the Seven-Mile Bridge. A boat was the only mode of travel
from Miami to Key West until oil tycoon Henry Flagler completed his
railroad line in 1912. After a 1935 hurricane destroyed 40 miles of
track, the scenic highway was built using Flagler's bridges. A
$175-million refurbishment that ended in 1982 resulted in today's
remarkable Overseas Highway.

9-10pm -- Modern Marvels - Iron
From the spear, axe, and sword to today's high tech arsenal, iron
weapons have revolutionized warfare. Visit the mines of Minnesota and
discover how iron ore is extracted and made into steel. Learn how
military-metallurgists create the latest weapons and demonstrate their
firepower. Discover iron super magnets, and study the biggest iron
magnet of all--the earth! See how iron oxide plays a significant role
in creating paints for cars and houses and ink for tattoos and the
dollar bill. Finally, it's off to the Moon and Mars to mine iron in
space.

10-11pm -- The Works - Guns and Ammo
Host Daniel H. Wilson traces the history of guns and uncovers their
incredible role in our everyday lives. Gun technology is all around
us, from lighters, to a simple rubber band, to the meat in our
freezer! Gunpowder, a centuries-old invention still used today, has a
key ingredient: urine! Experience the future of ammunition at a test
facility where plasma, compressed gas and light-powered guns are being
perfected that can send projectiles into orbit.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Welding
It was a science first conjured amid the fiery ovens of ancient
blacksmiths; today more than 50% of all U.S. products require some
form of welding. Whether via electricity, flammable gases, sonic
waves, or sometimes just raw explosive power, welding creates powerful
bonds between metal unmatched by any other joining process. From high
atop emerging 60-story towers on the Las Vegas strip to oil platforms
hundreds of feet below the ocean, discover how welders forge the
backbone of civilization. Learn about exciting new applications: how
sound waves create bulletproof welds for contemporary body armor; the
technologies behind robotic welding systems; and the knee-rattling
impact of an explosion weld, the most powerful method of all.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - World's Sharpest
It's time to slice and dice! Take a cutting-edge look at the most
amazing blades in the world, from the legendary sword of the samurai
warrior with an edge sharp enough to sever a man's arm in a single
swipe, to industrial shredder blades capable of gobbling anything from
a sofa to a fridge, to the precision slicing power of lasers and
plasma.

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 20 - Highway Maggots
With the sun beating down on the ice, the road is melting at an
accelerating rate. This means that it's all hands on deck for the
demobilization of the drilling sites at Langley and Mallik, which must

the Ice Road." Eric holds the lead for the moment, but Hugh is making
a final push that might put him out in front.

10-11pm -- Shockwave - 27 - Shockwave
Nothing makes for more exciting television than seeing history
captured as it happened, whether by home video, cell phones,
surveillance systems, or the occasional lucky news cameraman. This
groundbreaking series takes the best raw footage of catastrophic,
headline-making events from all over the world and uses the latest in
graphics technology to dissect the video, revealing astonishing 3-D

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - It Came from Outer Space
Discover how essential space travel technologies have journeyed back
to Earth with surprising and indispensable commercial applications.
For example, paint that can withstand the heat of reentry now protects
our steel-framed high-rises from collapsing in a fire. Batteries that
can take a sports car from zero to 60 in four seconds also keep our
satellites in orbit. The oxygen tank used by firefighters to save
countless lives is just like the one used by our astronauts during the
Apollo missions. These and many ordinary objects are traced back to
their NASA roots, where they originally had the right stuff.

8-10pm -- The Universe - Beyond the Big Bang
The universe began with a massive expansion, billions and billions of
years ago, and it continues to expand with every passing second. The
idea that the universe, and man's very existence, began with a "Big
Bang" is no longer a topic of debate among most scientists--it is
essentially taken as fact. How has man come to this conclusion, and
how has our knowledge evolved so that we can recreate the very first
seconds of our universe and all that has developed since? Interviews
with the world's leading physicists and historians are woven together
with animated recreations and first-person accounts to explain
concepts such as the formation of galaxies, the creation of elements
and the formation of Earth itself.

10-12am -- Last Days on Earth -
Could the human race become suddenly extinct? We count down seven
ways in which the world as we know it could meet an abrupt and
untimely end, from a mammoth asteroid strike to the eruption of a
super volcano. What would happen as computers literally become
trillions of times smarter than we are--would they program our mass
murder? Scientists, experts, and witnesses describe these and other
vividly pictured disaster scenarios, from super bugs created in secret
labs to black holes that could suck earth into oblivion. Using
state-of-the-art computer-generated graphics and interviews with the
world's top scientists, we will leave viewers pondering humanity's
place in the universe and will reveal the most terrifying truth of
all--that our greatest enemy is ourselves.

7-8pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 19 - A Rookie Fumbles

8-9pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 20 - Highway Maggots
With the sun beating down on the ice, the road is melting at an
accelerating rate. This means that it's all hands on deck for the
demobilization of the drilling sites at Langley and Mallik, which must

a final push that might put him out in front.

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 21 - Ice Road Truckers
It's a new season and a new set of challenges for the ice road
truckers--the drivers of the tundra who carry vital equipment to
remote outposts located hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle
during two months of every year before the road disappears. The
truckers will venture to a new road--one that is actually located
inside the Arctic Circle. The road is comprised of frozen river over
ice, and even includes a 120-mile stretch over open ocean. Over the
course of the season, we'll examine the history of the region, the
building of the ice road (which includes an ice bridge), and will
follow road maintenance crews as they struggle to keep the road safe
and operable in sub zero temperatures. It is a race against the
elements, against time, and against each other.

10-11pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Gang Killers

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Icebreakers.
They are the toughest ships in the water, plowing headlong into one of
nature's hardest obstacles. Modern icebreakers can smash through
10-foot thick ice sheets without stopping, allowing scientists and
commercial shipping access to some of Earth's most inhospitable spots.
Join our blustery journey as we patrol the Great Lakes on the USCG
Cutter Mackinaw and traverse the infamous Northwest Passage on the
maiden voyage of the USCG Healy, the newest Polar Class Icebreaker in
the US Fleet.

8-9pm -- Decoding The Past - Doomsday 2012: The End of Days
There are prophecies and oracles from around the world that all seem
to point to December 21, 2012 as doomsday. The ancient Mayan Calendar,
the medieval predictions of Merlin, the Book of Revelation and the
Chinese oracle of the I Ching all point to this specific date as the
end of civilization. A new technology called "The Web-Bot Project"
makes massive scans of the internet as a means of forecasting the
future... and has turned up the same dreaded date: 2012. Skeptics
point to a long history of "Failed Doomsdays", but many oracles of
doom throughout history have a disturbingly accurate track record. As
the year 2012 ticks ever closer we'll speculate if there are any
reasons to believe these doomsayers.

9-11pm -- Life After People -
Explore the tantalizing question of whether all the remnants of
mankind will eventually disappear from our planet. What would happen
to the earth if humans ceased to exist? Would ocean life flourish, the
buffalo return to the Great Plains and our skyscrapers yield to the
wear and tear of time. Visit the ghostly villages surrounding
Chernobyl, which were abandoned by humans after the nuclear disaster
in 1986 and then travel to the remote islands off the coast of Maine
to search for traces of abandoned towns that have vanished from view
in only a few decades. Learn from experts in the fields of
engineering, botany, ecology, biology, geology, climatology and
archeology as they provide answers for many thought provoking
questions.

8-9pm -- The Universe - The Most Dangerous Place in the Universe
Take a tour of the cosmic hot zones--black holes, galaxy mergers,
gamma ray bursts and magnetars. Super massive black holes can
literally "lasso" the Earth out of the solar system. A clash between
two galaxies can result in a barbaric ritual called "galactic
cannibalism" in which the dominant galaxy's super massive black hole
literally eats the weaker one. Magnetars are a cosmic magnetic force
so strong it could wipe out data on every credit card on the planet.
Cutting-edge computer graphics are used to bring the universe down to
earth to show what life would be like on other planets, and to imagine
what kind of life forms might evolve in alien atmospheres.

9-10pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Bloodiest Battle
Discover a prehistoric watering hole where multiple dinosaur species
fought to the death under the intense heat of a Jurassic drought.
Watch as more than 15,000 bones are uncovered at the scene of one of
the bloodiest battles in Paleohistory. Scientists are able to identify
Allosaurus and its rival Ceratosaurus as the predators. Evidence
collected at the site, detailed animal behaviors, and the results of
hi-tech CAT scanning are used to recreate what happened on this dry
lakebed in Utah 150 million years ago.

10-11pm -- Evolve - Skin
It makes up 16% of your body weight, is the largest organ in the human
body, allows birds to fly, mammals to nurse their young, and provides
a lifelong defense against predators and parasites alike. What is it?
Skin. From the delicate membranes that encased the earliest animals to
the leathery hides that protected the dinosaurs, this episode looks at
how skin has changed and adapted to virtually any challenge it has
faced throughout history.

It is the most widely produced chemical in the world and possibly the
most dangerous. Take a look at the many uses of acid. See how the
military harnesses acid to make the explosive "Comp B-4." Visit a
sulfuric acid plant to see how acid can take the stain out of
stainless steel and learn how it can be mixed to dissolve precious
metal. At the Heinz vinegar plant discover why acid's sour taste is
sweet. Finally, learn how acid loving bacteria in Yellowstone National
Park may hold the key to a biological industrial revolution and meet a
mad scientist who will demonstrate how acid can hollow out a penny and
turn a hot dog to sludge!

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Vampires in America
A vampire scare in New England in the 1700s lasted more than a century
and turned families and communities upside down. The dead bodies of
those suspected of vampirism were exhumed and ancient curse-breaking
rituals were performed on them. Watch as the latest technology is used
to analyze historic evidence of the New England vampires and discover
if there was any basis for the panic. Medical science is also used to
examine those who believe themselves to be modern day vampires. Is
there a common element between the suspected vampires of America's
past and present?

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - American Werewolf
The werewolf is a centuries-old legend based on myth, not a real
animal. However, local eyewitnesses in Wisconsin and Michigan report
seeing a dogman--a tall hairy man-beast. Professional hunters and
trackers armed with tranquilizer guns will be deployed in an area of
recent sightings to find this creature. For the first time polygraphs
and hypnosis will be used on eyewitnesses with astonishing results.
One-part history, one-part science and one part monster, discover the
truth behind legendary monsters.

10-11pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 21 - Ice Road Truckers
It's a new season and a new set of challenges for the ice road

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - More Military Movers
Soldiers, machines, and supplies are only effective if they arrive at
the battlefield in time. Explore the history and the technology behind
the machines that do the heavy moving in times of war. The V-22 Osprey
is designed to combine the best qualities of a helicopter with the
best qualities of a fixed-wing aircraft. For all of its ingenuity and
promise, the Osprey has had a tumultuous development period. These
controversies will be examined as Osprey advocates explain how the
aircraft's shortcomings have been worked out. Take a look at the
Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopter--a versatile, twin engine, tandem
rotor, heavy lift copter that is a major military workhorse. Also
spotlighted are LMSRs, which are some of the largest non-combatant
ships in the military. Reaching nearly a thousand feet in length, they
are capable of carrying an entire U.S. Army task force.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Corn
Why is corn the largest agricultural crop in the world? Corn has fed
the masses from ancient times to this day. Corn is not only a
vegetable and a cereal grain; it is a commodity as well. Visit
Lakeside Foods in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and see how tons of corn are
harvested and canned within hours. Then it's off to VeraSun Energy in
Charles City, Iowa, to discover how corn is converted into fuel. Take
a look to our past and you will understand that without corn we
probably wouldn't be here.

9-10pm -- Modern Marvels - Wheat
It feeds the world. Ride along with a custom harvester traveling from
Texas to North Dakota and discover the ripening wheat fields. See how
the harvesting crews brave months on the road, cutting thousands of
acres each season. Tour a pasta plant to see how a special kind of
wheat becomes everything from spaghetti to rigatoni. Watch as the
grain is mashed into a thirst-quenching brew. Finally visit a company
that transforms wheat into plastic-like products, such as eating
utensils, hair combs, drumsticks, and yo-yos.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Distilleries.
From water and grain...to mash...still...vat...barrel and bottle--the
distilling of alcoholic spirits is a big business and near-sacred
religion. Its acolytes eye the color, swirl the glass, inhale the
bouquet, sip, and then ponder their ambrosia. What's your pleasure?
Bourbon, Scotch, Rum, Gin, Vodka, or Tequila? We trace the history of
distilling from the one-man/one-still tradition to the Voldstead Act
of 1920 that devastated American distilleries to the mega-sales and
high-volume distillery of today.

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 21 - Ice Road Truckers
It's a new season and a new set of challenges for the ice road

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Secrets of Oil
Rubber, Plastic, Nylon, Aerosols, Resins, Solvents, and
Lubricants--none can exist without oil. If we stopped driving our cars
tomorrow, America would still need five million barrels of oil a day.
Visit Vulcan Materials, where oil tanks are emptied into massive
double-barrel mixers to make asphalt and then continue to the Rolls
Royce Aerospace Facility where complex jet fuels are blended. Travel
back to the 1870's to see how an unemployed whale oil salesman turned
a greasy oil-drilling by-product into a household staple: Vaseline.
Finally discover how cutting-edge recycling techniques can breathe new
life into used motor oil, and where a number of renewable fuels and
technologies take aim at oil sovereignty.

Modern crime scene investigative methods
are used to measure the bite marks, and together with evidence found
at another site, the attacker is identified as another Majungatholus;
thus uncovering the first authentic case of dinosaur cannibalism.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Edwards Air Force Base.
Examine the colorful history of the premier flight test center, and
America's most important aviation facility for more than 60 years,
Edwards Air Force Base in California. Every single aircraft to enter
the Air Force's inventory has been put through its paces at Edwards,
along with many Navy and Army aircraft as well. With unprecedented
access to several forgotten and abandoned facilities on the base, we
are guided by Richard Hallion, former chief historian for the US Air
Force. Today, Edwards continues to push the envelope. Among the many
cutting-edge projects currently being tested is the Airborne Laser,
designed to focus a basketball-sized spot of intense heat that could
destroy a ballistic missile.

8-9pm -- The Universe - The Outer Planets
New discoveries regarding the Outer Planets are creating a fundamental
rethinking of our solar system. Uranus is a toxic combination of
hydrogen, helium and methane. Scientists speculate that the planet was
knocked on its side after colliding with another body. Neptune's
largest moon, Triton, is cold and barren, but some scientists
speculate that liquid water might exist under Triton's icy surface. If
this is proven true, Triton could be the home to one of the biggest
discoveries of all time. Cold and inhospitable, Pluto completes one
orbit around the solar system every 248 years. Cutting-edge computer
graphics are used to bring the universe down to earth to show what
life would be like on other planets, and to imagine what kind of life
forms might evolve in alien atmospheres.

9-10pm -- Jurassic Fight Club - Hunter Becomes Hunted
A quarry in south central Colorado is found to hold the remains of
four different species of dinosaurs. Two are docile herbivores:
Camarasaurus and Stegosaurus. But the others remains are those of
predators: Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus. Many of the bones have the
telltale signs of bite and claw marks. By comparing the size, depth
and shape of the marks and comparing them to the teeth and claws of
the predators, experts are able to identify which of the dinosaurs is
responsible for the grisly act of carnage. Then, using the forensic
evidence found at the site, and intriguing new results learned through
CAT scanning; they are able to reconstruct a battle that took place
between the two predators, in a fight for dominance.

10-11pm -- Evolve - Sex
In the history of life on earth, sex may be the ultimate survival
skill, because the bottom line is reproduce or die. This episode looks
at sex in its many forms, from sharks--among the first vertebrates to
have intercourse--to dinosaurs that had to figure out how to join
their giant bodies together to mate; from the stick insect (that mates
nonstop for 10 straight weeks) to the panda (just three days a
year)... and finally to humans, this diving force of life comes in
many forms. How will sex evolve in the future? Are we in fact evolving
beyond sex? Is a time coming when we will be able to seize control of
our own evolution... not via sex at all, but genetic engineering?

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Dangerous Cargo.
Toxic traffic is everywhere! An average of 800,000 shipments of
hazardous materials hit our highways and railways daily. From Wild
West wooden crates filled with explosives to HAZMAT containers of
nuclear waste, we shadow dangerous cargo. We ride shotgun on a
hazardous material shipment that's tracked by satellites; hunt down
the hush-hush "ghost fleet"--trucks carrying classified government
materials; and board a Con-Air flight moving another kind of nasty
stuff--dangerous felons!

8-9pm -- MonsterQuest - Boneless Horror
Throughout history there have been sightings of a massive Octopus big
enough to attack and sink boats. Could such a creature really exist?
Our divers probe the depths of the North Pacific where the world's
largest known species of octopus lives. Could these octopuses be a
food source for a monster? The investigation will use various
underwater camera systems, including a tiny camera small enough to
probe inside octopus lairs. Deep waters, rough currents, freezing
temperatures and the prospect of encountering a 20-ton boneless horror
make this a dangerous expedition.

9-10pm -- MonsterQuest - Gigantic Killer Fish
Are monster fish lurking in freshwater lakes and rivers? From the
Arctic Circle to the Amazon, follow an expedition to find the biggest
and nastiest giant fresh water fish, from catfish large enough to
swallow children whole to trout as large as a boat. Scientists will
deploy giant lures and underwater cameras in a search for monster
fish. One-part history, one-part science and one part monster,
discover the truth behind legendary monsters.

10-11pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 22 - Ice Road Truckers

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Breaking the Sound Barrier.
For decades, the sound barrier loomed as an impenetrable wall against
manned flight that buffeted planes with shock waves as they approached
the speed of sound. Scientists thought the barrier couldn't be
breached--until the development of jet technology and rocket fuel at
the end of WWII. This is the dramatic story, told through the eyes of
many who were there, of the work leading up to October 10, 1947, when
24-year-old test pilot Chuck Yeager smashed through the sound barrier
in a Bell XS-1 aircraft.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Corpse Tech
Do you ever wonder what happens to your body after you die? You might
be surprised to discover that the human body is host to a multitude of
hidden secrets. Discover how coroners and forensic anthropologists use
a body to both save lives and catch killers. Visit the University of
Tennessee's famed "Body Farm," a crematorium, and one of the largest
tissue banks in the United States.

9-10pm -- Modern Marvels - Dangerous Roads
Take a ride along some of the world's most dangerous roads. From
Bolivia's "Death Road," to California's fog-shrouded Highway 99, find
the danger that waits behind every blind curve. Visit the Federal
Highway Administration's test laboratory to see what's being done to
make roads safer in the U.S. Finally, ride along in extreme four-wheel
drive trucks with some adrenaline junkies that drive boulder-strewn
trails just for the fun of it!

10-11pm -- The Works - Motorcycles
Nothing combines human engineering with the tactile thrill of speed
and power like the motorcycle. But what are the basic physics of the
machine, and more importantly, those experienced by the rider? From
the first steam-powered bike to the latest in hybrid technology,
uncover the history science behind the excitement as engineers unveil
their latest creations. If you've always wanted to know what a "power
to weight ratio second to none" is, look no further. Daniel H. Wilson
hosts.

7-8pm -- Modern Marvels - Hangars.
Come in for a smooth landing as we explore the history of
hangars--stark, massive structures that house and protect flight
vehicles. We visit the first hangar, built on a German lake; Boeing's
Delta 4 rocket hangar; Hangar Number One in Lakehurst, New Jersey,
that housed all US airships built in the 1920s and '30s; and the Space
Shuttle's hangar--as big as four skyscrapers! Back in Germany,
Cargolifter's mammoth hangar, large enough to enclose the Superdome,
signals the rebirth of an industry.

8-9pm -- Modern Marvels - Logging Tech.
When Paul Bunyan cried "Timber!", he never foresaw today's
cutting-edge, controversial industry that feeds a ravenous,
lumber-crazy world--a world striving to protect nature while devouring
it. Come into the woods to see how he-men and hi-tech combine forces
to topple 4-billion trees annually; journey to 19th-century America,
when lumberjacks cut a legend as large as the timber they felled; and
travel with a tree from stump to sawmill and learn its non-wood
uses--from aspirin to film to toothpaste!

9-10pm -- Ice Road Truckers - 22 - Ice Road Truckers
It's a new season and a new set of challenges for the ice road
truckers--the drivers of the tundra who carry vital equipment to
remote outposts located hundreds of miles north of the Arctic Circle
during two months of every year before the road disappears. The

follow road maintenance crews as they struggle to keep the road safe
and operable in sub zero temperatures. It is a race against the
elements, against time, and against each other.

10-11pm -- Shockwave - 16 - Shockwave
Watch footage from a para-gliders helmet cam as he is hit with a
thermal updraft that propels him 3,000 feet--then he is sent into a
plummeting death spin. While trying to set a world record, stunt man
Spanky Spangler attempts jumping a car more than 220 feet but hits the
ramp at 90 miles an hour and comes crashing down in Firebird Lake,
Arizona. Next a military helicopter carrying reporters explodes into a
fireball while news cameras are rolling. Then an out of control speed
boat goes airborne at 140 miles an hour, turns nose up, takes two
spectacular spins and hurls the driver across the water like a
skipping stone. Finally a gas tanker explodes into an inferno and a
firefighter falls into the scalding caldron of gasoline--he'll burn to
death within 10 seconds.

7-8pm -- Ax Men - 13 - The Final Haul
Logging's toughest season winds down but the battle is far from over.
Jesse questions the future of his family's business as J.M. Browning
continues to fall from glory. The Gustafson crew returns to the
Challenge, but rumors of a final pullout abound. The Pihl crew wraps
Beaver and celebrates a successful year. A member of the Stump Branch
crew announces that he will not return.

8-10pm -- Extreme Marksmen -
Discover people who perform seemingly impossible shooting feats with
all kinds of firearms. Watch world-class shooters perform amazing
shots as well as reenact shots made famous in history. Stories will
include the toughest shot in Old West shooting exhibitions (the mirror
shot) as well as modern-day Army snipers who hit targets a mile away.
Super high-speed cameras will capture a bullet in the air and travel
with its trajectory to the target and animation will dissect the
technology of the gun, the ammunition, and the technique.

10-12am -- Crime Wave: 18 Months of Mayhem -
John Dillinger, Machine Gun Kelly, Baby Face Nelson, and Bonnie and
Clyde are some of the most notorious criminals of the last century.
Technological advances like the Tommy Gun, V-8 engines with electric
starters, and bulletproof vests often gave the robbers the advantage
over the police. A spree of robberies, killings and kidnappings during
an 18-month period from 1933 to 1934 shook the nation to its core. The
government responded with a war on crime that began with America's
first national police force and the rise of the FBI. HD location
photography, archival footage and evocative recreations are used to
transport the viewer back to this era and to capture the hectic pace
of this crime wave.

Good Morning, Mr. Bond

Episodes of the quirky Northern Exposure are on Hallmark Channel. And episodes of the even quirkier "Twin Peaks" are sometimes on Bravo. Monstervision review & host segments of the Twin Peaks movie "Firewalk With Me."

Fun fact:
Griffith Park Observatory According to Ripley's Believe It Or Not, the 800-mile long Aruwimi River, which flows through the Aruwimi Forest in the Congo, was unwittingly named by famous explorer David Livingstone. He asked a native what the name of the river was. The native replied "Aruwimi," which means, "What is he saying?"

In 1942, Adolf Hitler inherited 9,000 acres of grazing land in Colorado from German relatives. The PT Boat of WW2 was based on a blueprint from Andrew Higgins, a bootlegger who had used the speedboat design for rumrunning during Prohibition. And Arlington National Cemetery has four Tomb Of The Unknown Soldiers (WW1, WW2, Korea & Vietnam) but only 3 bodies: identification processes have become so good that all remains returned from Vietnam are eventually identified!

In 1963, ventriloquist Paul Winchell was awarded a patent for the first successful artificial heart. The plastic heart was first tested on a calf, which lived 94 days.

"I've come up with a set of rules that describe our reactions to technologies:
1. Anything that is in the world when you're born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
2. Anything that's invented between when you're fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
3. Anything invented after you're thirty-five is against the natural order of things." Douglas Adams (1952-2001, Hitchhhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
