Wild Wild West

Night of the Fatal Trap, #6515

Mexican banditos terrorize towns along the border and a frustrated town calls in the government to put an end to the raids. West and Gordon enlist the local sheriff, deputies, and even their long-suffering butler Tennyson as they hatch a plot to ensnare the greedy banditos. This is one of two times Jim actually goes undercover using an alias (the other is in Freebooters) and Robert Conrad keeps up with Ross Martin's 'Mojave Mike' character pretty darn well as he dons the personae of Frank Slade -- crook extraordinaire. And watch for Alan Sues (1926-2011) of "Laugh-In" as one of the Dawsons before he became known on TV for comedy. He was one of the guest stars Wild Wild West inherited from The Twilight Zone (TZ episode The Masks). In fact, after Laugh-In went off the air, the WW2 veteran went back to occasional non-comedic roles including playing the evil Prof. Moriarty onstage opposite Leonard Nimoy as Sherlock Holmes
