Shilo
In April of 1862, both the Confederate and the Union Army suffered a tremendous losses at the battle of Shilo. U. S. Grant, who was only in his third month as a Union commander, was helped in his victory by terrible weather. The battle lasted for two days in a downpour of rain. Located in the South of Tennesse, Grant's victory at Shilo got his troops one step closer to Vicksburg, Mississippi.
