Author's Note: Yes! Finally! The third chapter! Same thing as before. I rate this a PG because it gets more romantic than the last two chapters. Not by much, but some people might get kinda grossed out. Evil Mistress belongs to me, everything else belongs to the real creator, Naoko Takeuchi. Don't sue me, I'm not taking her hard-earned credit. Got it? Good! On with the show!
Evil Mistress smiled when she saw the Sailor Senshi running toward her direction.
So they have decided to come fight me, huh? she thought. They would do anything to protect their precious little planet! Well, I'm going to turn it into a dust cloud! Anyone who turns against Evil Mistress only has the death road to walk! Pack your bags Sailor Senshi, it's going to be a long trip!
She laughed wickedly. The Sailor Senshi looked up and saw Evil Mistress floating in front of the Dark Crystal.
"Usako!" Tuxedo Kamen cried.
"What do you want?" Evil Mistress snarled.
"You Usako, only you." Tuxedo Kamen pleaded.
"Whatever! You have Chibi Usa now! You have all forgotten me!"
"That's not true!" Mercury said. "We all love you! We would never forget you!"
"That's right, Usagi-chan!" Jupiter said tearfully. "You are the most important person in our lives!"
"Lies!" Evil Mistress shouted with hatred. "All lies!!"
"Usagi-chan," Chibi Usa whispered, "you're my mommy."
"So what if I am?" Evil Mistress snapped. "Does that give you the right to treat me like dirt? To brush me off whenever you have more 'important' things to do? I am your princess! Your leader and your friend! Is that how friends treat friends? If so, then I have been treating you all unjustly!!"
"Evil Mistress," a voice said.
"Wise Man?" Evil Mistress asked.
"Do not explain yourself to them. It is obvious that they just don't care anymore! Destroy them before they can hurt you anymore!" Wise Man encouraged.
"Yes," Evil Mistress said softly, "they just don't care anymore. Maybe they never did! It was probably a lie all along! They were just acting; fooling me! They never loved me and they never will! Never!!"
"No Usako!" Tuxedo Kamen shouted. "I love you! I always will! I could never love anyone else as much as I love you! When I'm not with you Usako, I go crazy! When I don't hear your voice I want to scream! When I can't hold you close to me I want to die! You are the light in my world of darkness, Usako! If you leave me I am nothing! I am nothing without you Usako!"
"That's not possible!!" Evil Mistress shouted back. She was starting to get confused.
Surely Prince Endymion doesn't love me, she thought. But then, why would he say all these things? Is he really going to take the act that far??
"I love you Mommy!" Chibi Usa said, as she stood by Tuxedo Kamen. "Mommy, I love you so much that my heart bursts!"
"But-- but. . . "Evil Mistress stammered, "no one can love me! Prince Demando was the only one who loved me! He said so himself!"
"Then why won't you believe us?" Mars asked. "Why won't you believe us when it's so obvious that we're telling you the truth, Usagi-chan! Every single word is true!"
"Evil Mistress, don't listen to them!" Wise Man shouted. "They are filling your head with lies! They deserve everything they get!"
"No Mommy, no!" Chibi Usa cried desperately.
"Usako!" Tuxedo Kamen whispered, with tears in his eyes. "Don't leave me, my love! Don't leave your family!" He drew Chibi Usa next to him.
"Remember what we shared Usako," Tuxedo Kamen reminded her. "Remember how much love you had in your eyes whenever I kissed you? How you laughed at the dumbest things I said and then you would silently laugh at me? How you loved it when I called you Odango Atama? And most of all, how tightly we shared a hug, and how passionately we would kiss when our time was almost over? Don't forget the happy times Usako, they will always weigh more than the bad ones."
Evil Mistress had tears in her eyes.
No one has ever cried for me before, she thought. No one has ever risked their lives for me. . .wait! They have! Queen Beryl. . .Mako-chan, Ami-chan, Minako-chan, Rei-chan. . . .and Mamo-chan. They were all willing to sacrifice themselves for me! And Chibi Usa-chan, I love her. Even if she wasn't my daughter I would still love her!
As her memories came back, the dark power started to fade.
Evil Mistress weakened visibly.
"I think it's working!" Mercury said excitedly.
"She's coming back to us!" Jupiter said.
As they watched, Evil Mistress slowly shifted back into Tsukino Usagi. She looked at Mamo-chan with love in her eyes.
"Mamo-chan!" Usagi cried. "Chibi Usa-chan!"
She ran into his arms, and they hugged each other like they would never let go. Chibi Usa also scrambled in between them to be part of the hug.
Wise Man screamed in frustration.
"That wasn't part of the plan!" he yelled angrily. "I will get Evil Mistress back!!"
"I don't think so, Wise Man!" Pluto said. She turned to the others. " I guess it's time to show you what I can do, huh?" She raised her staff high in the air.
"Dead Scream!"
The Senshi watched in awe as a mirror image of the planet Pluto appeared on the time staff.
Pluto aimed it at Wise Man. He deflected it, but it also caused him pain.
"Not bad Sailor Pluto," Wise Man reflected, "not bad. Now it's my turn!" He used his crystal ball to attack.
"Sailor Senshi!" Usagi warned. "I have to go help them!" She brought out her Moon Compact.
"Moon Crystal Power!"
As pink ribbons surrounded her, she became the sailor-suited soldier of love and justice, Sailormoon!
"Hey Wise Man!" Sailormoon taunted. "You target is me, so why not fight me instead? For love and justice, I am the beautiful sailor-suited soldier, Sailormoon! In the name of the moon, I will punish you!"
"I've heard that before Sailormoon, you don't scare me! If you have the guts, why don't you fight me alone? Champion against champion!" Wise Man challenged.
"You're on!"
"Sailormoon, no!" The Senshi cried out. "It's too dangerous!"
"Mommy!" Chibi Usa begged.
"Usako," Tuxedo Kamen pleaded, "you promised me that you wouldn't leave me! Wise Man is too strong, Usako!"
Sailormoon ignored their protests.
"Lets get this over with!" Sailormoon said to Wise Man.
"Even if you defeat me Queen Serenity, you will die also! Are you prepared to make that sacrifice?" Wise Man asked dangerously.
"Of course I am!" Sailormoon made it seem like a silly question. "I would do anything for my friends and for Earth!"
"Just five minutes ago Sailormoon, you were going to turn Earth into a dust cloud! Now you are preaching about how wonderful it is?! Give me a break!"
"Are we going to fight or talk? Because if you want, I can just whip out my Scepter and. . . ."
"I'm afraid you won't get that far!" Wise Man raised his crystal ball and summoned his powers. A beam of dark power poured onto Sailormoon.
"Sailormoon!!" everyone cried.
The beam then disappeared, revealing Neo-Queen Serenity.
"Mommy!" Chibi Usa cried happily. But then the happiness turned to fear and worry when Neo-Queen Serenity lifted the Illusion Silver Crystal in the air.
"She's going to use the Silver Crystal!" Venus said in shock.
"She can't!" Mars cried. "It will destroy her!"
"Neo-Queen Serenity, please!" Pluto begged. "If you use the Illusion Silver Crystal, you will be killed! The Dark Side will have won then! What will happen to Crystal Tokyo and Small Lady?"
"Crystal Tokyo has King Endymion and the Sailor Senshi. As for Small Lady," pain flickered across Queen Serenity's face. "She also has them all of you to protect her. Once I destroy Wise Man, all will be gone. This is my destiny. To protect not only Crystal Tokyo, but to protect Earth for all time." Queen Serenity closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened them again, there was a fierce determination in here eyes.
"Moon Crystal Power!"
The Silver Crystal started to glow as it began to fill with power.
"Even if I die Wise Man," Neo-Queen Serenity said calmly, "I'm taking you down with me!" She searched deep within her for everything that made her who she was. Tsukino Usagi. Princess of the Moon. The soldier of love and justice, Sailormoon. And most of all, Neo-Queen Serenity, ruler of Crystal Tokyo.
She concentrated hard and brought out all her memories and feelings. . .
"Moon Crystal Power!! Destroy Wise Man once and for all!!"
"We have to help her!" Mars cried anxiously. They all formed a line behind Neo-Queen Serenity and clasped each others hands.
"Mercury Star Power!"
"Mars Star Power!"
"Jupiter Star Power!"
"Venus Star Power!"
"Pluto Planet Power!"
"Unite!!" they cried in unison.
As they watched, a vortex appeared beneath Wise Man.
"What is going on?" Luna asked.
"I don't know," Artemis responded, "but it doesn't look good at all." Mercury activated her visor.
"It seems to be some sort of warp chamber. It is filled with the Crystal's energy." Understanding slowly dawned on Mercury. "I think we are the ones who created it!"
"What?!" Mars exclaimed.
"Uh. . ." Jupiter said hesitantly, "shouldn't Wise Man and the Dark Crystal be dust by now?"
"Yeah," Venus agreed, "what's going on? Did we goof? We rarely goof!"
Their thoughts were intruppted by Chibi Usa's cry.
"Mommy!" she cried in distress.
They all looked at Neo-Queen Serenity closely. She was weakening as the Crystal took more of her energy.
I can't hold on much longer! Queen Serenity thought. If I'm right, that vortex should destroy all evil in it! I told you Wise Man, if I go, you're coming with me!
"I'm getting tired of you Sailor saps!" Wise Man roared. "So it's a vortex, deal with it! I am too powerful to be drawn into it anyway!" He knocked the Senshi unconscious with his powers.
"Sailor Senshi!!" Neo-Queen Serenity cried. "NO!" she turned toward Wise Man with hatred burning in her eyes. "You're going to pay for that, Wise Man!" she vowed.
"Oh really? Now how do you plan to do that?"
"By this!" she concentrated intently on the Crystal.
"Illusion Silver Crystal! Give me the power to protect my friends! Give me the power to save Earth!"
Pink flames appeared on her hands and surrounded the Crystal. It then started upward, covering her entire body.
"Mommy!!" Chibi Usa was afraid. Afraid that she would lose her mom again.
"Usako!!!" Tuxedo Kamen yelled in anger.
He wanted to run to her. He wanted to protect her from everything that was evil in the world.
He started to get up, but then her realized that Chibi Usa was clinging onto him, almost desperately. He hugged her tighter. He couldn't leave Chibi Usa, he knew that.
But Usako, he thought in despair.
Wise Man narrowed his eyes at Neo-Queen Serenity.
"Just what are you planning to do, 'Queen Serenity?' " Wise Man asked mockingly. Neo-Queen Serenity smiled sweetly.
"Kill you, of course!" She took a deep breath and silently bid all her loved ones good bye.
Oh Mamo-chan, she thought achingly, how it could have been. . . .
She then hurled herself at Wise Man.
"What are you doing?!?!" Wise Man screamed. "Are you crazy?!?"
"If I go down Wise Man, you're going down with me!!" she said triumphantly, as they both fell into the vortex. It closed right after they fell through.
"MOMMY!" Chibi Usa screamed hysterically.
"USAKO!!" Tuxedo Kamen yelled. "USAKO!!!"
"Sailormoon!!!" Luna and Artemis cried.
Tuxedo Kamen ran to the spot where the vortex was just at. He pounded at the ground with all his might.
"Usako!!!" he howled.
Tears started running down his face. Chibi Usa ran to him.
"Daddy," she begged, "don't cry." Chibi Usa was crying even harder than Tuxedo Kamen.
Luna and Artemis could only stare in shock.
"Usagi-chan," Luna managed, "I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry Usagi-chan! I failed! I failed to protect you! Just like before. . . " Luna started to cry also. Artemis tried to comfort her.
Meanwhile, the Senshi were starting to wake up.
"I have a major headache," Jupiter complained.
"My back hurts!" Venus whined.
"Would you guys just shut up!" Mars snapped. "My leg hurts really bad right now, and you don't hear me whining up a storm! Geez, you're just like Usagi-chan!"
Mercury and Pluto kept silent, but then they noticed that something was amiss.
"What happened?" Mercury asked.
"Where is the Dark Crystal?" Pluto asked. "Where is Wise Man? Where is Neo-Queen Serenity?!" The last question made everyone flinch.
"Mommy--Mommy. . . "Chibi Usa hiccupped, "she's gone!!" She threw herself back into Tuxedo Kamen's arms. He hugged her fiercely.
"Gone?!" Mercury cried.
"What do you mean she's gone?!!" Mars yelled. They were having trouble staying under control.
"She took Wise Man down with her," Tuxedo Kamen said painfully, "into the vortex." The Senshi gasped.
"You mean," Venus said quietly, "she sacrificed herself?
"For us?" Jupiter finished. Tuxedo Kamen nodded slowly. Sailor Pluto stalked up to him.
"I have every right in the world to slap you right now!" Tuxedo Kamen blanched, but Sailor Pluto wasn't done yet.
"You are the protector of the princess, the Earth Prince, and yet you watched Neo-Queen Serenity kill herself and did nothing?! You're suppose to protect her!! She was going to be your queen!!"
"I know!" Tuxedo Kamen shot back. "But I couldn't leave Chibi Usa unprotected!" Sailor Pluto rolled her eyes.
"Without Neo-Queen Serenity there will be no Small Lady! Have you thought of that?!?"
"Wait a second," Mercury asked hesitantly, "if Usagi-chan is dead, why is Chibi Usa-chan still alive?"
"You mean I'm not Mommy's daughter??" Chibi Usa asked fearfully, with panic etched in her face.
"Impossible!" Sailor Pluto snapped. "Of course you're her daughter!" she turned to Mercury with anger in her eyes. "I am the Guardian of Time Sailor Mercury, I think I would know better than you." Mercury looked at the ground, ashamed.
"Lay off, okay?" Mars said angrily. "You didn't have to bite her head off!"
The Senshi started arguing, each blaming the other for Neo-Queen Serenity's death. Chibi Usa screwed up her face and screamed.
"I want my mommy!!!"
Everyone stopped talking at once.
"When Usagi-chan fell into the vortex," Luna said softly, "she was Neo-Queen Serenity. She wasn't any of her present day selves. Is that why Chibi Usa is still here?" Everyone nodded in agreement.
"So that means that Usagi-chan also died in the fu--" Mars stopped when she realized what she was going to say.
"Oh no," Chibi Usa whispered fearfully. "Mommy!!" she screamed until her voice was hoarse, until she felt her all energy leave her body. Then she collasped.
"Small Lady!" Pluto cried. She ran to catch her, but Tuxedo Kamen already had.
"Maybe Usagi-chan isn't dead after all," Venus said hopefully, "maybe she's just stuck somewhere and we have to go find her!"
"Yeah," Jupiter agreed softly, "that would make sense."
"Lets come back tomorrow," Artemis suggested, "you're all tired anyway. It won't do much good to stay here anyway." Everyone nodded their heads slowly, their hearts a little bit lighter than before.
"Mamoru-san," Mars said, "Chibi Usa-chan will stay with you, okay?" Tuxedo Kamen nodded his head. "I'll go see Mrs. Tsukino and tell what happened." Luna looked at her sharply. "Part of it." she added.
As the others walked away slowly, Tuxedo Kamen looked behind him.
I will get you back Usako, he thought. Wherever you are, I'll find you. I'll never give up on you Usako. I promise.
"Where am I?" Usagi said to herself, as she floated aimlessly in a foggy place. "What is this place? Where is Wise Man?"
"Princess Serenity," a serene voice called out, "you were so brave."
"Queen Sernity?" Usagi asked, bewildered. "Mother?"
"That's right my daughter! I am so proud of you!"
"Am I really dead, Mother?"
"Oh no!" Queen Serenity said. "You're just resting."
"So I didn't die? But I thought that if you use the Illusion Silver Crystal to its full power, you would lose your life force!"
"Yes, you would, but even though you used the Crystal to its full potential, it is Prince Endymion's love that saved you."
"Mamo-chan," Usagi whispered.
"Princess Serenity," Queen Serenity whispered, "no matter what happens, his love for you will always shine. Your love for each other is eternal, just like the moon." Pause. "Sadly though, all things have consequences. When you emerge from this timeless dimension, time will have passed in the real world. You parted from Prince Endymion with hatred on your mind."
"But that was when I was Evil Mistress!" Usagi protested. "I was healed! Mamo-chan's love had healed me!"
"We forgive, Princess Serenity, but we never forget. Even though your heart had already forgive him, your mind stopped you from being free from the evil. You took down Wise Man in hatred, and one day, it will take down you." Usagi gasped.
"Please help me Mother!" Usagi begged. "I don't want to hurt them again! I can't!"
"I have tried to figure out a way to stop the evil from growing, but I still do not understand." Queen Serenity said sadly. "The combination of love and hatred you felt completely destroyed the Illusion Silver Crystal. Only when you have healed yourself, will it emerge again. Until then though, you must stay here."
"For how long?"
"I don't know. It could be for days, weeks, months, or even years."
"Years?!" Usagi cried. "But I want out now!"
"Time will suspend for you in the real world," Queen Serenity continued, "it will be as if you never existed. Only your court will remember you, and anyone who is connected to your past life. This is the only way I can save you Princess Serena," Queen Serenity said softly, "once you leave this place, remember my words. Things will have changed drastically when you are able to reunite with your friends again. In fact, you might not even want to see them again."
"Why?" Usagi asked angrily.
"Friends will always betray you, my daughter. Only the ones who are truly remorseful for what they have done will be your true friends."
"I don't understand Mother," Usagi said.
"You soon will," Queen Serenity said, "just keep in your mind, forgiveness is the only way. . . "
"Mother?" Usagi called out, as she sensed Queen Serenity leaving her. "Mother!! Don't leave me!"
There was no response though. The only sound that could be heard now was the tearful sobs of Princess Serenity.
