Our first boat was a 1974 17 foot Venture. We sailed it for 4 years in many locations, Lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior past Pictured Rocks; around Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay; around the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor; the Atlantic Ocean at St Augustine; several locations in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico; Lake of the Ozarks; Lake Dillon Colorado elevation 9,017 ft; Lake Tahoe; and dozens of large and small lakes, rivers and reservoirs in Michigan, Florida. Missouri, Colorado, Nevada and California.

Our second boat was an S2 23 cruising yacht. We sailed it in many locations from the Straits of Mackinac to Key West. Using it as our camper we visited places like downtown Chicago, Muskegon, Au Gres, Grand Haven, Macinac Island and Key West and sailed in various bodies of water from the Atlantic Ocean to the Grand River at Portland Michigan.

Our newest boat, LoosecruiseIII is an S2 26C. Built in 1975 at Holland Michigan, it has already seen service as the home for a family in the Florida Keys for several years. It is the next logical step up as it has several features of larger vessels, wheel steering; inboard engine; center cockpit; aft cabin; enclosed head and thru-hull fittings, but still trailer-able with shoal keel.

We found it on the web and bought it in April 1998 from a very friendly couple who had done lots of work on it but never sailed it. After lots more work, we launched and re-christened her in early May 1998, at Narrow Lake Michigan, which we consider our homeport. We've since sailed it in many other locations.

Still, there seems to be plenty to do before the restoration is complete, but at least we're enjoying it as we go.

We plan to keep her several years and enjoy many good times with family members and old friends, and maybe even pick up some new crew along the way. Though we still trailer the boat, we've taken to the marina life the last few years at Muskegon Conservation Club.
