These pages still under construkshon

Yep well...here 'tis...
just a couple of strutts and some re welding...its just tacked
together at the moment..and for tacked together it is awesome...
smacks down smooth and hard for "Mark I". gonna hafta make some dies now.
still got to sort out the control but even if i have to buy them
I'll be very happy with it. I'll have to make "mark II" neater and use
bolts and stuff and drill holes and shit....but i'm pretty impressed
with its test performance....might even use a bought one ram!
I used 8mm plate for the base and the anvil is 6.5" by 3.5".
The hammer is 7" by 2.5" round but i will change that.
It uses one garage door spring for the return action.
I will find a better spring cos this one uses a couple of hundred
kilos of push. My weight alone only stretches this spring a quarter
of what the ram pushes it...
(and i'm only 90..100...oh ok 113kg plus breakfast....and coffee)

bit more bracing for the anvil mount too.

im gonna try a friction type control. two bits of steel sandwiched
with holes that line up...like an old steam duel action ram pivoting
control.
photos later

then i gotta find things to flatten....grasshoppers....heh...heh..heh.

I'm an Aries...what can I say?...I'm a prick! lol

Tues....well....got it going. What a ripper. this thing
Ive welded some dies on and
as scrappy as it looks ive just done a bit of a taper on some 25mm
reo . i priced a ram and the basic controls at about $200..
from SMC Brisbane today and a ram for about $530.
The fittings he said were from $3.00-$5.00 and line was 60 cents
per metre. I'll ask him tomorrow about the controls for
continuous operation.

Mods to "Mark I"
I'm going to have to get another nipple and make the ram
double acting. The spring slows the machine down and reduces
the impact by heaps. Manual with spring i cant get just a
bit quicker than 1 cycle per second but perfect for a spring
swage. this is better than a treddle hammer by far and
for an outlay so far of about $30.00 it will be the perfect
setup for rivetts an stuff. I am so glad I mucked around with it.
Im goin to change the hammer slide to a square tube that
the hammer slides in. The hammer is now 75mm square bar
by about 400mm long.

Warning! the follow message may contain subliminal messages!

Safety Warning!...dont fuck with this type of machine kids..
This machine can send a 25 to 30 Kg lump of steel..(HE-VEE!)
downwards with about 1/2 a ton acceleration (FARST!)and
will turn your finger into a tobacco paper.(HURT!)
The birds will still sing while you find a chux
to soak up what you want stiched back on!
wear the safety gear!

If you have never used a mechanical or air hammer and you
like forging..you will love one! it is well worth your effort
to make an air hammer. in no way are they over kill.
noisy but not over kill.
I have never used a treddle or air hammer and i already want
a propper one. they save time, elbows, charcoal
..not grass hoppers... and if if you are not carefull, fingers!
