18-04-05
the last couple of days have been spent fitting an 80 series spare
wheel carrier....the fold out type...to a 100 series toyota rear
bumper.... and swapping the swing out to right hand side to open
out to the left.
So a little bit of chop and weld and drill.

The lugs have to be extended by about 10mm on the right hand side and
about 16mm on the left to allow for the plastic bumper. the support
brackets for the hinge side need a little modding. The hole needs to
be moved for the latching mech and the latch needs
to be cut off ad turned around as does the wheel carrier hub.

Day 2...final anoying fitting. still have to redrill the wheel
carrier, make a brace for the right hand corner (cos we can).
and then put the plastic bumper back on

But it looks and work just fine so far...

....and if you're thinking of asking me to do this for you..on a hot day
two attractive blonde's offering unlimited favours is the payment
for this.

Im having a go a double action pnoo...newm .....air ram.
The first stage was not as successfull as id hoped so i stuck the rubber
on the end and the seal bit works just fine. at the test stage it shot out
at a great rate of knots, breaking off the end and flying about 12 feet towards
the wall....(with me dumbfounded saying......faaaarrrrrkin COOOOOOOL!)

you see I want a mechanical (oh ok air..) hammer....heh.....heh....heh

so i reckon this oughta throw a 10-20 kg hammer quite nicely...
Its 3.5 inch by 5mm water pipe, 20mm shaft and 20 inch stroke and all
up about 26-28 inches long. only the one way action as i only had
one nipple left...(old army accident)

....and all made from scrap and off cuts......I love hoarding...

Mid afternoon......well what a heap of fun that is..shooting 30-50Kg
lumps of steel off the bench. I used two garage tiltadoor springs for the
return of the piston, welded the back end of the ram to the bench,
and let her rip.

Now i gotta untangle and dig out the half done hammer frame. I've dug out
a piece..peice..peece.....bit of "I" beam for the carriage and ram...
just gotta dig out or make a mount for the ram.
If the washing machine water solenoids dont work I'll probly have to buy
or scrounge the right type of controls for the ram.
