What a fantastic day for a State Football playoff game in Las Animas.
The temperature was in the 70's. The bleachers were beginning to fill up with Trojan fans when I got to the football field.
The Holyoke bus drove into the parking lot and the "Dragons" got off and they were huge. There were a lot of players over 200 pounds. I was nervous.
The game started and it was a pretty evenly matched football game. We scored first with a touchdown run by quarterback Chris Bogner and a Andrew Abdulla made a 2 point conversion run. Then they scored a 7 points. Then Andrew Abdulla ran a touchdown in and Chris Bogner made the two point conversion run so the score was 16- 7 . Then they scored 8 points and the game was 16-15 and it was half time.
The second half was very intense but the Trojans managed to capitalize on the Dragon's errors and we scored another touchdown run in by Charles Alvidrez and the ball was kicked by Zac Atkins for a 1 point conversion so the score was 22-15. So Trojans really had to work hard to keep the Dragons from scoring and we did.
The fans were on their feet that last 5 minutes of the game cheering the Trojans on as they held on to win 22-15.
Now they either play the winner of the Wiggins/ Del Norte game. If Wiggins wins the Trojans will have to travel there and if Del Norte wins, then they will come here because Las Animas won the coin toss.
I will e-mail more information as I get it. It was a fantastic victory to make us one step closer to the State title. Go Big Blue!!!!!!!!!!!!
