2002 14.1 Dark Dappled Buckskin Mare
Pip was the first foal born to our breeding program. We bought her dam in foal with the hopes of getting exactly what we got. A colorful filly that is gentle, correct, and beautiful. We had to part with Pip only a couple of years after her birth and it was one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. We had always intended to keep her. But fate was kind and brought her back to us and she is here to stay! The photos on this page are her most current adult photos but to see Pip as a foal click here. *Photo by Sasha Gubanov taken in 8/2010*

We can't get over how beautiful she has grown up to be. She is truly a horse of a different color. Her coat changes with the seasons. She is pictured here in the fall. Her coat is still rather golden and bronzey but it has just begun to darken and her dapples really stand out. As winter comes on her coat grows darker and darker until she almost resembles burnt toast being black in some places and a light cream in others! In the heart of winter she is almost a steele grey or grulla-like color although genetically she is not grulla. In spring her coat is a dark bronze almost metallic brown and she looks almost bay. And then we come back to summer where she turns a golden bronzey buckskin all over again. Her color isn't the only unusual thing about her. Her triple cross to the stallion Waseeka's Nocturne makes her a rare colorful treasure indeed. She also has the wonderful stallions Kadenvale Don, Troutbrook Playboy, and Whit Akers Sensation behind her. We are honored to also own Pip's dam Aquila Sure Prize. Pip is extremely easy to photograph. She just turns it on and is so pretty that it is hard to take a bad picture of her. Her trot is 100% natural. She has short feet as you can see in the picture. We keep all our horses barefoot as we do not show and feel that natural is the way to go. She is naturally upheaded and bright eyed. It is a pleasure to watch this lovely little mare prance and play. We are so very glad to have been able to bring Pip home and retain her for our broodmare band. She is a prime example of what we aim to produce. She carries the future of our breeding program with her in every floaty step. We do hope to breed her but are taking a break in producing foals for the moment so she is open. We would entertain an on farm breeding lease, or in certain cases, an off farm breeding lease. Please email inquiries to skylandmanor@hotmail.com *Photo by Sasha Gubanov taken in 10/2010* |
