Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2005

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival was held on the Mall in Washington DC from June 23-July 4, 2005. The Food Culture USA section had famous chef speakers, "Edible Schoolyard" and tents on gadgets (manned by CHoW members and Slow Cooks), chocolate, tea, spices, winery, soy, dairy and other topics. The CHoW part of the gadgets tent displayed numerous cooking items and whatzits to entertain and inform the visitors. Some interesting drinks were sold at the festival including "Jallab" made from date and rosewater, at the Oman Cafe, and "Chicha" a Peruvian blue cornmeal drink, served at the Latino Cafe.
