I would now like to direct you to the next Athens Project candidate, Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska running as an Athens Project candidate in 2008 for President of the United States. If elected, he has pledged to back the National Initiative (http://www.ni4d.us); a system of national referendums. The American people could truly rule their nation, passing laws that Congress refuses to pass on its own (perk limitations, campaign finance reform, closure of tax loopholes that benefit specific campaign donors, etc.)
