Welcome to my campaign web site. I am running for County Council to be the first direct democracy representative in Montgomery County (perhaps first in the nation).
As a county council member, voters will electronically decide how I should vote for legislation as it arises in the council. While I will offer information on both sides of the issues, it is the public that will decide which way my vote will go. Experts and concerned citizens from within the county will be able to provide opinions, information, and debate before each vote. Ways You Can Help
1) E-mail billjacobs@hotpop.com to volunteer for web page editing, outreach, canvassing, envelope stuffing, poll coverage, publicity, or other ideas you may come up with. EVERYONE has something to offer.
2) Run for office as an Athens Project candidate yourself! The more candidates that enter races nationwide (Senator, Comptroller, Dog Catcher, any elected office), the more likely it is for direct democracy SOMEWHERE to take root.
