Military
Through the Ages - MTA 2002 Jamestown, VA
"From the sublime to the
submerged!" -Charity Bedwell
Tom Jewell our ship's carpenter cooked up a nice breakfast
featuring
yards of sausage and delicious eggs
"Barbados", our ship's boy (Barbara Jewell) AKA: our Cabin
Bird (she's cheap! cheap!)
enjoyed the yummy offerings under the shade of the tavern
tent.
Captain Joe Merrick, charming as ever...waiting to sign new members to the crew
Patience looking oh-so-fetching in her new hand-sewn finery!
We even were treated to a few sea shanty's in the tavern that afternoon (and naughty ones later that night!)
Wendy Campbell - "Mistress Gwen", tavern owner and madam
making sure her "girls" don't give away the wares without
taking coin
(Charity has a problem remembering this! She naturally wants to give
to ALL mankind!)
Several cannon drills commenced, as we talked to the tourists,
doing our best to teach the "passers-by the difference
between a pirate and a privateer, how to fire a cannon, how to wield a
cutlass, why you carry a sword when you've got a pistol, and a variety
of other historical tidbits." - Tom Jewell
Some very strangely be-capped visitiors to our camp...the
pre-teen cheerleader contingency
wearing curlers covered to the world and perky smiles...yes, they scared me!
Beware what kind of things you accept from our savagely friendly Ft. Niagra neighbors
See? They offer kick-a-poo-joy juice concocted in a chamber
pot!
(ok, i had a few sips myself!)
Yyvonne Brunot cooks up some historical grub for the delight of the camp
Yvonne cooks as well at educates the public about spices, techniques and foods of the period.
MTA cooking judges....gee, tough job, need some help?
The tasting table was set with care
The delicious fare was sampled by the judges, then wolfed down by the crew!
The Captain's Lady, Vicki (or Charlotte this weekend!)
enjoys the shade and the hay bale whilst giving a roguish
smile.
Patience giving one of our favorite Riflemen a kiss
We were summoned by his superior, to test young Master
Horton's reserve....
we teased him, cajoled him, crooned to him and still
he stood
ramrod stiff, erect, and unbending to our
charms and temptations...
Finally, he cracked...was it our delightful selves, or
the whispered
comment about some fellonious flirt? We shall never know!
From left to right: Patience, Irish Guard David Horton, Charity(me!), and Vicki
And after that excitement...well, we just *had* to go shopping!
The new Jamestown gift shop is just too, too tempting!

Later that day, the Captain took these charming
Civil War Re-Enactment children through the cannon drill

Meanwhile, the Costume Judging Commenced
The Handsome Chort and the Lovely Patience
Before the judges, Chort explains his attire
Paitence provides the documentation to the judges then talks about her garb.
Even showing off her carefully hand-sewn, hand-boned stays
to the smiling judge
An interesting experience.. the next day's events sorta
washed out the results....
