Richard Fidler is 30-something. His birthday is celebrated on some date, month and year. He and his wife Khym Lam (whom he met in his DAAS years) have just recently had their first child. Richard is in the middle of taking driving lessons to get his P Plates for the first time.
Rich was the Mr Stupid of the Doug Anthony Allstars. He was the guitarist (he used to be a drummer pre-DAAS). He was always the one to get picked on as he was not as good at being aggressive and nasty like Paul and Tim.
After DAAS split Rich had no intentions to continue performing. He wanted to concentrate on writing the CD Rom Real Wild Child. But he then went on to host the ABC’s Race Around The World , cable’s Mouthing Off , and more recently Arena’s The Hub on Foxtel. As well as that he popped in every Tuesday to Adam Spencer’s breakfast show on JJJ for his segment Dick Predicts. He had his own breakfast show called Fbi Breakfast, for a while.
"I argue sensibly, with God and right on my side. Richard argues in a belligerent way and is closed off to suggestions. I’m very forgiving and he seems to hold onto pain." These are Paul McDermott’s obviously ironic words about the times spent with DAAS.
"I was incredibly tired and angry. What triggered it was Rich going off to buy a paper while I struggled up the escalator with everyone’s luggage." Paul McDermott talking on the good ol’ times in the Dougs.
Tim has popped up on Channel Nine over the years in very cute, but unfortunately unsuccessful, shows such as Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and Little Aussie Battlers. He appears in the Super Series Debating and annually at the Great Debate at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
We believe Tim will shine once again on television, but for now we are enjoying his books such as Left of the Center , and his wonderful role as Frank n’ Furter in the stage production on the Rocky Horror Show.
Who can forget the time Tim ran for Peacock’s seat in the State Election with the campaign slogan "Vote for Tim, because he’s beautiful", in 1986. He managed to get 0.8% of the votes.
Write to Tim Ferguson c/o Channel Nine’s Publicity Dept., PO Box 100 Richmond, Vic. 3121. I don’t know how recent this is, so it may not still be valid.
