Meanwhile, Orion’s aunt came to visit him and Penelope. “How’s he doing?”
“Still strong as always,” she sighed. “I miss him so much; I hope he’ll get through this.”
“Don’t you worry, Orion’s been through this before. These were the conditions when the authorities recovered Orion from that car accident.” She sighed, “Penelope, there’s something I think you should know. The night before the accident, I had a dream, a vision if you will, foretelling the events about to take place. A voice spoke to me, saying that Orion will soon be in my custody and his destiny was extraordinary. At first, I didn’t believe it and Orion showed no sign of such things until recently.
He’s told me that he feels he doesn’t quite belong where he is, except when he’s with you. Lately, his wheelchair has made him feel unappreciated. However, since he had to figure this out, I let him go so he could find his true calling so he wouldn’t be so down on himself.”
“So, you’re all right with all this?”
“Of course. I just want Orion to be happy no matter what he does to get the most out of life.” She smiled through her reading glasses. “Poets, like Orion, are free spirits so they need to blow whichever way the wind blows, or in this case, whichever way the waves crash, to be satisfied about life.” She stroked Orion’s cheek and kissed it before leaving. Penelope put her hand delicately on his heart. “Orion, please come back to me, I love you.”
Just then, something was happening inside of Penelope’s soul. She put a hand on her heart and felt it pulsing. She zoned out and felt like her soul was reuniting with her past form. When she opened her eyes, they glowed golden for a second. “Even though this journey is over, Orion’s destiny hasn’t met its end yet.” Suddenly, Penelope got visions of the upcoming future, which eventually put her to sleep as her body rested on Orion’s chest.
A voice in the dream explained, “Your spirit knows well enough that Orion will continue to revisit his past. After all, the Mexican ruins are only ruins. The merpeople need to return to their home place or what the gods call ‘the lost city.’”
“Atlantis?”
“Yes, the lost city of Atlantis.” After the voice distinguished itself, Penelope fell into a dreamless sleep. As for Orion, his dreams were just beginning.
