Chapter 19: Meeting Aphrodite and Athena

He felt his soul disconnect from Oceana and the next thing he knew, he woke up on his back as the sun was just starting to set. “Bright light,” he cried, “I can’t see.” That was followed by a coughing fit. He looked up and saw Maria. “Orion, you gave me quite a scare, are you all right?”
After coughing up the rest of the sea water, he laid on his side as Maria looked on. “Oh, my body aches. I don’t feel so good.” Just as the sun set, the white light of Artemis surrounded Maria as she took on her true form as Athena.
In her elegant swan gown, she knelt down to Orion and picked him up. “Orion, you’re safe now.” Just as he looked on the face of his goddess guardian, Orion fell into a deep sleep.
When Orion woke up in the hospital, he saw the faces of Athena and Mia. “What, what are you doing here, Mia?”
“Orion, I was merely sent here to test your loyalty to Penelope and you passed.”
“Are you kidding? I left her to find out what fate held for me.”
“She let you go, Orion, so you can truly discover who you are. In fact, you became the chosen warrior of light because of your dedication to her. The light that shines within you and Oceana is another form of the powerful element that rules us all.”
Pure heart.” He breathed out as Mia revealed her true form as Aphrodite. She touched his heart and revealed the light within as it flooded out of Orion’s body. She delicately placed her hand down the middle, revealing a white light and a deep purple light. “Your white light blinds the color of the pure heart. Do you have any idea what the light symbolizes?” He shook his head. “It’s the essence of goodness and purity of the soul, but only person has a strong concentration of this. However, in him, that white and pure heat has combined and condensed into his pure heart ruby crystal.”
“Jonas,” he smiled, stood up and started pacing. “If it weren’t for him, I might not even be here. Zeus used some of his white light to create me, didn’t he?” The goddesses nodded back. “So you’ve been looking after me this whole time.”
“We only took the form of Misty to test your loyalty.” He looked at his feet; “I must be dreaming, I’ll never be able to walk quite like this, but you two seem so real.” He paused, “Does Penelope know I’m here?”
“She’s been right here ever since I brought you in,” Athena confessed. “In turn, her presence made your spirit stronger and that’s the main reason you were able to return to us.”

Just then a bubble formed around Orion and the goddesses, lifting them magically toward the ceiling of Orion’s hospital room. He looked down and saw Penelope tenderly stroking his cheek. He placed a hand on the side of the bubble, “It’s been so long since I’ve seen my dearest love. It’s only been a week, but it feels like a lifetime.” He felt her warm hand on his cheek, “Oh Penelope,” he shut his eyes. “I love you more than anything of this world and there’s nothing that’d keep me from you.”
He felt something move inside his soul and he started singing, “Penelope, Penelope, so many ways I love thee. Penelope, now I see, to love you is my destiny. My delicate flower, my cherry blossom so sweet, only you, my Penelope.” After singing, crystalline teardrops fell from Orion’s eyes and when they made contact, the floor of the bubble rippled like ripples on a pond. Athena and Aphrodite embraced him and took him to see Zeus himself.
