Misty and Melissa, after five days, came up with the potion to change Orion back to his human form. When Melissa confronted him with the potion in her hand, he was in shock. “Orion, Misty and I have the potion you requested. It can change you back at anytime.” She handed it to him.
He held the clear substance in his hand curiously, feeling all of kinds of emotions at once. He had gotten what he wished for, he had a chance to escape from his depression and the pressures of solving the feud, but he refused to use it. “I’m sorry, I have unfinished business to take care of. Adam and Dragoonas must fall. I have some research to take care of.” He handed it back to her. “Hold on this for me, I’ll need it later.”
“As you wish, Orion.” She bowed in his presence before retiring to her bedroom to put the potion in her safe for later use.
He headed for the library and found ½ a volume on Adam. Gemini’s life was, like his, was tied to Dragoonas. Gemini would have to live as she was good and Adam was evil. He searched the archives and had yet to devise a strategy to bring the dark forces down. “You’d think for a legendary beast that the dragon would have a known weakness besides of the light.”
He read on about the history of Dragoonas and Adam when he came across an interesting fact. ‘In the Age of the Centaur, the creature of darkness was the Dark Night Dragon. But as of the Age of the Mermaid, the dragon had to adapt to its new environment, as it became the Black Diamond Dragon.’
Orion kept his finger on the page and paused, “Adam destroyed Centaur Forest with the help of this dragon, but somehow, they’ve exhausted the powers of darkness and disappeared out of existence for as long as I have. He probably resurrected the dragon so he could finish what he started.”
At that moment, Marina came to see him. “Are you sure that you want to solve this puzzle instead of changing back?”
“Look, I came to face my destiny. I have found what I have to do and I must do it or die trying.”
“Doesn’t your destiny call to Penelope also?”
“It does, but,” he groaned in thought, and forced a smile, “that makes things a bit more complicated. I’m destined to love Penelope, I know that, but down here, now that I think about it, I feel that I belong here and that’s really what I was searching for.”
“That’s true. Well Orion, I believe the ancient scriptures say that you will be returned to your place of origin but I’m sure the Gods will deliver you to your true calling.” She closed the book, “Why don’t we swim and talk about this? It’s not good to have your eyes on the books for too long. Believe me, I know.”
“Sure.” He smiled for the first time in days.
As they rounded the place grounds, Orion felt a lot better than before. “I just wish that I could have both at once; that I could bring Penelope down here.”
“I think, I’m not sure, that the one thing you could do is bring her here using a special crystal to do so.”
Orion rattled off the top of his head, “It’s the fusion of a scale from Oceana and Dragoonas.” He was personally astonished that he knew that without being told, “I could borrow a scale from Melanie’s pillow, but…”
“You’d need a black diamond scale too, but you’d have to kill him first.”
“I know.” He thought aloud, “it won’t be easy, not to mention that I’m at risk of losing my life, but I’m sure that I will survive.”
“But the stroke of Adam’s hand hurt you.”
“I’ll need to find a way around that, plus I need a weapon or two to take down Dragoonas.”
“Whatever you need, it has to be made of strong diamonds, perhaps from the scales of our protector. Nothing else will be able to damage the enemy.”
“Having two dragons of diamonds doesn’t make this any easier. Diamond could hurt Dragoonas but his tail could hurt me again, maybe kill me. I just can’t let Oceana fall or I’m personally doomed.”
Oceana called Orion and let him and Marina follow. She handed him a sword that she had made. It was glowing white, matching her scales and Orion felt a strong sensation from her breath as he held it.
To be safe, he worked on making a strong bow and arrow, making 25 arrows made from the diamonds Oceania had previously shed all over the cave. She gave out fragments of her breath to 10 arrows, one representing each sister and Penelope. Orion decided to practice with a few regular (not diamond) arrows to make sure he knew how to use a bow and arrow. He was already a skilled archer in gym class so doing this underwater should have come easily to him anyway.
When they headed back to the palace gates, Misty saw them together and swam back inside and cried in her bed. Orion gasped, “Oh no, Misty.”
