“He’s not dead, Misty, but he’s been stricken by the touch of that black dragon. The darkness has lured him into a deep coma.” Neptune placed him on his bed, examining him to make sure he was alive.
“But Daddy, is he going to wake up?” Misty urged him, being very afraid for Orion’s life.
“Judging from the damages,” he stroked Orion’s cheek, “he’ll stay like this until that dragon strikes again, which shouldn’t be too long from now.”
He felt his heart, and felt warmth near the red area. “Why is he red?” Misty wondered, even though she had seen this many times before in the boys she had turned into the mermen who eventually died of depression, although not quite as bad.
“His heart hurts so much that he’s showing the signs of deep depression, in this case, his soul is bleeding in emotional pain.” He felt Orion tremble slightly, “If we don’t bring his spirits up, we could lose him to depression.”
She sighed, hoping that he’d wake up soon. She sobbed silently, “This is all my fault.”
As he dreamt on, Orion searched for Penelope, but encountered a flashback from before he left, ‘And you’re going to be researching legends and stuff like that… I hope you find what you’re looking for.’ He wanted to go to her, to touch her or even kiss her sweet lips, but she was intangible to him, even in his dreams.
He was shaken awake with a cry from Gemini. The king and he rushed into her chambers to find that she had been lured into the dragon’s deep sleep, as he did Orion just moments before. Orion saw the dark dragon and yelled, “Leave the Palace, Dragoonas and don’t come back!” Just as he spoke, his internal light came alive and scared Dragoonas away.
“You are indeed the chosen one of light.” Neptune gazed on.
“But what about Gemini?” He approached her cautiously.
“Once the dragon marks someone as his servant, we can only wait to fight him when he returns.”
“Is it me, or am I the only one to call Oceana and Dragoonas by name?”
“I suppose that everyone else is afraid to.”
“I guess that’s part of my destiny.”
A voice came out of nowhere, “Neptune, what have you done to my sister?!”
Orion looked on, as he saw the merman from his dream a few nights ago, the one with dark hair, ebony eyes and a black tail with pale skin, which truly showed that he was the chosen servant of Dragoonas. He felt a nagging presence in his heart from the disgust he felt towards Adam.
“Adam, what are you doing here?”
“Answer me first! What’d you do to my sister?”
“It wasn’t Neptune; it was the black diamond dragon, Dragoonas.” Orion spoke out of turn, giving Adam his glare.
Adam looked at him, smiling evilly, “It can’t be, Orion?”
“You’d better believe it!”
“How’d you come to live down here?”
“It’s a long story. I was on a journey and drowned by the ruins. I woke up and become a merman.” He said almost in a tone of sarcasm.
“I don’t believe it. You shouldn’t be alive right now, unless Zeus brought you back again.” He laughed. “So what? I heard what happened after you stole Penelope away from me. Because of me, you decided to leave to find a place where you belonged. You never made it to your destiny, Orion, and if this place is it, I’ll see to it that you’ll die here.
After you two died together, I wreaked my revenge on the Centaur Forest and the world, destroying all that was good. Unfortunately, your buddy, Jonaseriah, had to destroy Nightariel, the last presence of evil left from that time. I will see to it that evil will once again rule this world and destroy you and Jonas.”
Remarkably, Orion didn’t wince in the face of his worst enemy. “You will look inside and see this to be true. My destiny will destroy yours, and even Zeus can’t help you there.”
“So what? He didn’t make me a perfect human. I was paralyzed from the waist down! I’m lucky I’m still here and you are too.”
“Just as Zeus kept you alive, Hades kept me alive.”
Orion’s light lit up, “I see now that I’m the one of the light and you are the one of darkness.”
“Oh really?” He sneered,”Because I see a tiny trace of darkness in your heart that I will awaken.”
He struck a hand out and Orion felt a nagging pain in his heart; he screamed as Adam made his get-away. His heart seemed to be bleeding, more than before, but Dragoonas sensed it right away. However, Oceana was standing guard and protected him with her light. She flew in to attempt to heal Orion. His heart wasn’t as bright red as it was, but his depression made it continue to bleed.
Melanie was summoned to create a serum to heal Orion, but even after receiving it, Orion continued to feel sore in both heart and soul.
“Are you feeling all right?” She asked after administering the serum.
“I miss my girlfriend, Penelope.” He sighed, “Thanks Melanie, I still need to heal a bit. See you around.” He swam away in sadness.
