Chapter 12: Setting the Record Straight

Marina showed him to where Misty’s room was. He faced her, “Thanks for everything, Marina, but this is something I need to care of on my own.”
“Very well, good day to you, Orion.” She bowed before heading back to the library. Orion went in, “Misty, are you okay?”
“What do you want?” She sobbed with her back still turned.
“Thanks for making the potion for me, but I just have a few things to take care of.” He sat next to her on her bed, “The 1st thing is fixing the way I’ve treated you. I’ve been a total jerk to you and for that, I’m deeply sorry. I never gave you a chance, not here or in my past life. You were begging for my companionship and I never gave that to you.”
She wiped her eyes and looked at him, “That’s all I wanted. I just wanted you to like me, but I guess you won’t be staying here so we could rule the realm together.”
“Penelope is still my true love, I’m sorry.” He laughed, “Besides, I don’t think I could rule a place like this, even with Penelope helping me. I’m not exactly the leading type. I don’t think I was even like that in my past life.”
“No, you weren’t really the leading, dominant type, but you stood your ground when you needed to, especially when Adam was breathing down your neck.” He shivered, “I still dread every day, thinking it’ll be my final day if Adam gets the upper hand.”
“What do you mean?” She wondered, holding his arm.

“I’m preparing to take on Adam and Dragoonas and Marina was helping me along with that.”
She was relieved, but then changed her attention to what he said about the dragon. “You’re not seriously considering fighting that bloody dragon; after all he’s done to you.”
“Look, it’s for your protection and everyone else’s. It’s my destiny.”
“I know and I won’t stand in your way.” She looked at herself, “I won’t be in your way.”
He laughed, “I can’t even say ‘stand’. I have legs but none that I could stand on. I so wished to walk on my feet, to feel the ocean run past them. That was my biggest dream of all. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to live it or not, but I wish I could.”
“You might.” She held his arm, “everything could work out for you in the end, Orion. You could be able to walk again and you’ll be with your true love.”
He wondered, fully ignoring the fact that Misty was holding onto his arm. “There’s one thing that I still don’t get. Why have I met two people that look like just you?” He forced a smile, “That really freaked me out, especially when I met Maria and you on the same day.”
She shrugged, “You might have been seeing things or it was my spirit’s doing. I’m sorry about all of that confusion.”
“It’s all right, I guess. But, I’m destined to be with Penelope. I can’t help it Misty, I’ve missed her so much that I found how much I love her.” He gasped, realizing what he just said. “That’s why I’d like to take her here with me sometime in the future, but I need to defeat Dragoonas to take a scale from him to make a crystal so we can both come here.”

“So, you like it here?”
“I love it down here, it’s the happiest I’ve been in a long time.” He smiled. “I gotta go settle down, see you later.”
