Dad and Mom
Just a few notes of explanation to the following pages:
In 1993, Arthur and Gloria gave Mom a small, hardcovered notebook for Christmas. It was accompanied by the request that she fill it with memories of her life, and then return it to them so it could be kept for Emily, their grandchild (Laurie and Ron), and Mom's great-granddaughter. Of course, as Mom wrote in this book, she shared it with the rest of us to read. In late November of 1998, I made a trip to visit Mom and found that she had completed the little book. I spent some time reading through it, and then realized that I wanted my family to have this too. SO, I asked her if I could borrow it to transcribe it onto the computer. With great reluctance, she parted with her book (I bought her another one so she could keep writing). During the month of January, I spent hours at the computer, typing out Mom's memories. It was amazing how much she could cram into a page.
This is not a cronological journal. Nor, I think was it ever intended to be. Just Mom's thoughts as they came to her. There is a kind of family history as well, as Mom tried to put hers and Dad's kin into some sort of order for us. Some of her stories are funny, some are sad, but always they are interesting. This website is intended for family members to share, but if you are just an accidental visitor here, you might enjoy it too.
Some of the pages might take a little longer to load as there are some graphics and photographs in the pages as well. Just be patient. If you are reading this, its because you are interested, so the time is well spent.
I learned a lot while doing this project, both about Mom and Dad, and about the internet and web pages. I enjoyed every minute of it. This page is for you, Mom. I hope you get a chance to see it.
Love,
Evelyn
