Turkey Hunting With My Wife!!

Turkey season was just one day away, and my wife was getting excited. Because she had never been before. So I was really looking forward to it.

So we got up early the next morning, and got ready to go. She was so excited her hands was shaking and we weren't even in the woods yet. She really had never seen a gobbler up close before. So she didn't know what to expect.

When we got to the place to set up at, we could hear gobblers we could hear gobblers away off, just gobbling away. So I knew we was in the right place.

I set my decoys out and we got set up. I started calling on my box call. Everytime I would call the gobblers would answer me. So I got my wife set up beside a big tree and I got beside her.

I guess I called on and off for about 30 minutes. I knew they was getting closer, so I looked at her and told her to get ready.

We sat about 30 more minutes, then I called once more and quit. They was still a pretty good ways off, but I knew they was coming so we just sat still.

But as we waited, my wife got comfortable and closed her eyes, just for a few minutes it seemed like. When she opened her eyes, there was two gobblers about 20 feet in front of her strutting.

She didn't know what to do. So I whispered and told her to shoot the one on the left, and I would shoot the one on the right.

When I told her to shoot, she did. Then I shot, and we got the two most beautiful turkeys. She was so shocked to get one. They was so beautiful strutting all around us. She said that was the most exciting thing she had ever experienced.

So I guess I have got a hunter on my hands. I am so proud of her. Her's weighed 22lbs 5oz. and had an 11 inch beard. And mine weighed 22lbs. 2oz with a 10 1/2 inch beard. But that is alright because I love for her to hunt with me. I hope she keeps on because I sure do enjoy her company in the woods. That is what makes my hunting so wonderful because we do it together.
