Questions are being answered

As the University of Louisville prepared for season, question marks were running rampant around the team’s practice fields. How would sophomore quarterback Dave Ragone respond to replacing Chris Redman? Who would fill the shoes of 1000-yard rusher Frank Moreau? Would the Louisville defense improve? Those are just a few of the questions that surrounded the program leading up to the season opener against in-state rival Kentucky.

Conference USA and the National Football League

A total of 70 players from Conference USA schools appear on the opening day rosters of NFL teams, as the league begins play this weekend. Eight Conference USA schools are represented, with at least three players appearing from each of those schools.

U of L unviels new look and web site

As Red Rage mentioned on the DBC board earlier in the week, the University of Louisville has introduced a new logo. The school also moved its web site onto the Fans Only network.

From April 20 - August 1, Red Rage asked fans to send in their nominations for who they thought should belong on University of Louisville football all-time team. Well the final numbers have been calculated and team has been put together. See which former Cardinal greats made the team and which ones are surprisingly absent.

Bearcat lineman to trasfer to Louisville

Cliff Dawson, a 6-2, 275-pound sophomore, signed with C-USA rival Cincinnati while a senior at Louisville's Trinity High School, but is now coming back home to be a Louisville Cardinal. He is currently watching the Cards practice and is expected to enroll at UofL on August 21st.

Lineman Buster Ashley will be redshirted

Ashley, an Owensboro High School all-state lineman, will be redshirted this year, even though the U of L offensive line coach said the former Red Devil is better than some of the linemen the Cardinals currently have.

Stallings finally gets his turn at running back

Every athlete will do what it takes to earn playing time when they arrive as freshman at their respective colleges. The University of Louisville's junior running back Tony Stallings was no different. After a season ending injury in 1997 in the opening game against in state rival Kentucky, Stallings bounced back in '98 starting the season at safety, but was quickly moved to linebacker where he started eight games while earning all Conference USA freshman honors.

The University of Louisville football program is coming off of back-to-back bowl appearances for the first time in school history, and the Cardinals have registered back-to-back seven win campaigns for the first time ever. But the bulk of the offense that helped guide the team to those achievements is gone.
