Bearcat lineman to transfer to Louisville
August 13, 2000
Cliff Dawson, a 6-2, 275-pound sophomore, signed with C-USA rival Cincinnati while a senior at Louisville's Trinity High School, but is now coming back home to be a Louisville Cardinal. He is currently watching the Cards practice and is expected to enroll at UofL on August 21st.
Dawson, a 1997 graduate of Trinity, has spent the past two seasons as a center for the Bearcat offensive line. Unfortunately, while at Cincinnati he suffered a couple of injuries to his sholder and was sidelined after having surgery.
Following his senior campaign at Trinity, Dawson received all-state honors from both the Associated Press and the Louisville Courier-Journal. He was a three-year starter for the Shamrocks and was named the teams Most Outstanding Lineman his last two seasons. Dawson was also named honorable mention all-state as a junior.
He will be required to sit out the 2000 season, becoming eligible to play the following year.
