Nox/Nyx (Roman/Greek)
Nox is the goddess of the night, who is said to bring the night by riding her black chariot driven by two dark horses. She is one of the ancient goddesses born from Chaos and Caligine. She was also so powerful that Zeus feared her and was in awe of her. She is also considered the goddess of secrecy, hidden things, illness, suffering, dreams, misfortunes, quarrels, war, murder, sleep and death.

She was the mother of many of the gods and goddesses, including: Uranus, Gaia, Fatum (Fate), Senectus (Old Age), Mors or Thanatos(Death), Letum (Dissolution), Continentia (Continence), Somnus (Sleep), Somnia (Dreams), Amor, Epiphron, Porphyrion, Epaphus, Discordia (Discord), Miseria (Wretchedness), Petulantia (Wantonness), Nemesis (Goddess of Retribution), the Furies (who torment the wicked), Charon (ferry-man of Hades), Euphrosyne, Amicitia (Friendship), Misericordia (Compassion), Styx; the three Fates, (Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos); the Hesperides, (Aegle, Hesperia and Arethusa).
