Letters to Bill Gates
by Andrei Vartic

“Can the knowledge be appreciated by computer”

The third letter

My third letter has a bitter taste, but bitterness, may be, is the remedy to escape from the anxiety. The progress is the Multiplication of the Entropy and no one can demonstrate the opposite

(Sirs, please, excuse my extravagant way of writing - I learnt it July 6, 1995)

Dear Mr. Gates!

The modern's man general mistake is that he refuses to live in accordance with the cosmic essence. The man is a part of Cosmos body and his existence on the Earth doesn't remove this essence at all. His desperately attempt to be above the Cosmos, above the Sole True Essence, to dictate to Cosmos, multiplies today, with exponential rates, our pains and tragedies wherever we live: in Cecenia, China, Columbia or Kuwait. And even, make a very inevitable and predictable end of the man. Because the sole possibility of Cosmos (which consumes herself quantified and irreversible) to escape from the painful problems is their annihilation.

Philosophers and politicians talked enough about the tragedy of a modern man. Arvin Toffler even builds a hole futurological science about the Informational Century in which he can't remedy against violence, despondency, ecological, geological, demographically and climate catastrophes. And he is not the only one.

All the politicians, scientists, philosophers, engineers of soul, and also those who produce soft and computers, don't see the man's basic mistake: his refuse to live there where he had to - in Cosmos.

Ancients, and at least Greeks, at least Plato, didn't make this general mistake, THEY WERE NOT ashamed TO TALK ABOUT COSMOS! THEY WERE NOT ashamed TO TALK ABOUT THE MAN'S PLACE IN COSMOS, HIS COSMIC COORDINATE,  as we can say today. AS  WE  CAN'T  SAY TODAY. In what regards me, I'm sure that some  ancient  nations  (or  sects)  knew  a  lot  about  this coordinate.  Essence  of  this Veda (knowledge) was wasted (may be as a result of an crossroads catastrophe /Prigogine/), but if it signs still are discerning today. To minimize the tragedies, and to reduce them to minimum, just to save the man

(But the question is: Must he  be saved?)

we have to take the  correct decisions .  As correct as possible. Without approaching the Cosmos, his divine essence, we will confuse ourselves very beadle in  the  Informational  Century  which  we  build  very feverishly. The stories  that  we  are  putting into the computer with such an insistence won't save the man and this problem as you well know, and it is asserted not only  by  Custeau,  Marcuse or  Tofller. The  violence, cruelty circulated  by mass-media and computer, is becoming the hit of the hole modern world, and the problem is that if we, those who preach modern informational media, understand  what we are doing...

The existential guide has shoved into migratory birds' eyes. They never confuse the South with the North. And the man has also such an guide. But he destroys it because he don't want to die. Or,  the Cosmos, says Plato, but  the Veda's text too, have limits. Real have its limits... And Man is a little part of Cosmos body.

I calculated the lowest limit of the Real numbers. Its 0,0012 angstroms. Lower down is prohibited. It's the limit that Einstein wanted to jump over. As you know Tagore smiled when he heard such a prodigy. And the fact of non understanding of this smile by the modern science (and especially by modern politicians) multiplies the catastrophic tragedy. When an devastating and incurable virus can be "manufactured" in any  biological laboratory in an secondary school, when an electronic virus can decimate the world,  when the tremendous  quantities  of  armament  can  be produced in a very short period of time, when the computer can watch even the genetic moves of an disobedient man, the Tagore's enigmatically smile (even the Gioconda's  one) must make us think very seriously. The modern philosophy of the absence of the borders takes us rapidly off-off the great performance of the Cosmos. But a software, in my submissive opinion, can save us. A software who oscillate in the tact of this Great Performance.

Mr. Bill Gates!

Why am I writing these letters with such a bitterness? Because I'm absolutely convinced that if the INFO HIGHWAYS which You are building, will be endowed "genetically" with the Highways of Decisions which I'm planing and which want themselves to be in Resonance with our Cosmic essence, the terrible crossroads trough which we are striking to pass, may be, will be avoided.

In one of the windows imagined by You I found an terrible  game  – "Mine-sweeper". Its a game of logical thinking and a terrible game of luck. Do You know how many biological civilizations stepped on the mine and it exploded? Dinosaurs are only one example. Here,  it can be added the human's  pre-modern variants. But we, aren't  we  also a variant?

That's why I invite You so insistently to Gradishtea Muncelului, in Romania, to see the most wonderful, the most  exceptional, and the most mysterious soft, the soft which is calmly waiting to be discovered.

Yours faithfully A V
