Studio Polices

Mission Goals and Statement

It is the aim of my studio to create interest in and promote the appreciation of music.  If the student should happen to learn to play an instrument, that would be nice, too.  I am willing and able to provide the knowledge, experience, resources and sense of humor necessary to carry out these duties.  To that end, I'd like to make a few simple requests:

Parental Involvement

It is important for the developement of talents and abilities, and general good mental health for both instructor and student that someone that they like and respect shows interest and support.

Why not stop by at the end of the lesson to say "hello" or "let us play you a song"?

Attendance

There are no cuts, skips, make-ups, credits, vacations, haircut, doctor, or dentist appointments, other health concerns, religious retreats, field trips, chasing lost dogs, bit by an iguana, cut off finger, sun burned lips, etc.  I have heard other excuses, but the internet won't hold them all. Actually I'm usually a little disappointed when a student doesn't show.  My students either become my friends or they quit.  They should be allowed and encouraged to do both.

Two skips, no call, you are history.

Termination

If the student should decide to discontinue his studies with me, he need only tell me.  A little advance notice would be appreciated, as I have a large waiting list.  If I decide to terminate the student, I usually deliver the appropriate speech, and then he sees the error of his ways.

Behavior

I enjoy exploring music in a relaxed atmosphere.  Enjoying music with a friend only makes it better.  I find that it's easier to make and keep friends if I treat them with respect, maintain  a cheerful attitude, and make an effort to find out why I like them.  Hopefully if the student doesn't already know this, he will learn it in time.  If not, go to termination.

Hygiene

And now a gentle note on Hygiene.  If you want to smell like a teenager or a wet dog, that's up to you.  However, I neither want nor need your cold, flu, pink eye, strep throat, whooping cough, pneumonia, mono, etcetera.  Please show up with relatively clean hands and a clean guitar.

Tuition

Tuition fees are due and payable on the first day of each month.  Checks should be made out to me, not the     conservatory, and mailed to Hartland Music, 1125 James Dr.,   Hartland, WI, 53029, or hand deliver at first lesson.  Cash will be accepted if delivered in person.  An internet credit card account will be set up as an alternative.

Late Fee and Reward Program

A late fee of $5 per week will be assessed as of the first day of each month.

Since I believe that positives should outweigh negatives, a student who pays for the month on or before the first lesson  of each month receives a credit towards free attendance of a one hour group class that will address a variety of musical concepts.

There are four lessons per month.  There are never five lessons per month.  There may be three lessons per month if Christmas, Labor Day, etc., get in the way or if Elvis calls me    out of town.  Should this happen, you will me notified verbally at a preceding lesson, by e-mail and via E.S.P.
