It is the season
for baseball, and the 'cork bat controversy' has become yesterday's
news. Now, for all the Cub fans, it was an honest mistake that could
have happened to anybody, but to Cardinal fans, the suspension was well
deserved. I think it is always interesting to sit in a room where there
are fans of opposing teams and listen to them aas they express what
they saw happen at a game. You would first be tempted to think that
they had watched different games. So I would like to pose to you a question
'who's team are ou cheering for?
Strategies differ from team to team and oft times the factor that determines
a lot of the strategy is the coach. Well, what is the strategy of Our
Coach?
We know that we have to spend time with
the play book which for us is the 'Bible'. A play for a team is simply
a planned response or action to a given opportunity. We are afforded,
by devine providence, opportunities everyday to accomplish what the
play book teaches us but we have to seize the moment. Not only are there
plays but there are also the little locker room chats. You know the
ones where it is not about the head and the memorization of plays, but
in the locker room it is about heart. Heart enough for the victory,
heart enough that the pain hurts for that moment don't matter heart
enough that even if other players are getting the glory and the cheers
it simply doesn't matter, because you have heard the voice of the coach,
passionate and confidently sharing his heart and knowing your pain,
he has told us that 'we are a team'. We go on the field together and
we struggle together we are sure of the victory.
This week have you been
on the field and somehow got distracted from the purpose of your being
there. You see we don't play for points; we are engaged in battle to
bring back to the coach those whom he has died for. If you are on the
field today are you day-dreaming, or have you a vision of the plays
and the Coach's passion that is driving you to give it your best. He
is watching you and cheering for His team. Go
Team.
