~It's Not Too Late - Part 9~

Micky, Geary and Julia tiptoed through the hallway leading into the house. They spotted the first terrorist just inside the main living space. Micky came up behind him and cracked him in the back of the head with a piece of wood he had found outside. Geary was right there to catch the man so that he didn’t make any noise when he fell. He dragged him down the hall and out of the way. Julia turned her head feeling her stomach wretch at the sight of blood.

“Don’t get squeamish on me now, Jules.” Geary took her chin in his hand.

“I won’t.” She whispered.

“Have you got the phone ready?” He asked.

“Yes, all I have to do is push send.” She answered

“Good girl, come on.” He took her hand and they met Micky at the end of the hall.

Working their way through the first floor of the house, they took out two more of the terrorists. “Two more to go.” Micky whispered.

“They must be upstairs.” Geary replied.

“Jules, you stay down her and call the colonel.” Micky waited for her to nod her head. “Everything is going to be alright.”

“I know.” She gave a soft smile. “Be careful.”

Micky and Geary silently made their way up the stairs to the second floor. They peaked around the corner into one of the bedrooms and could see Kristi tied to a chair with a gag in her mouth. She looked terrified but unharmed. There was another terrorist standing outside the door which meant that the last one had to be in the room with Kristi and the other woman that had been taken hostage.

Geary looked at Micky and counted to three on his fingers and then they rushed the man standing outside the door. Before he knew what hit him he was on the floor with Geary pointing his own gun at his head.

Kristi looked towards the door and saw Micky. Tears sprang to her eyes and she shook her head vehemently just as the last terrorist stormed out of the room with his machine gun blasting.

“Shit!!” Both Micky and Geary dove out of the way of the flying bullets each ending up on opposite sides of the hallway.

“Get down, Kris!” Micky yelled as Geary returned fire.

“There’s no way out, asshole!” Geary yelled. “The army is on the way, soon this whole neighborhood is going to be surrounded. Let the two girls go!”

The man shouted something in Greek that neither Micky nor Geary understood and then to reaffirm his point, he began shooting again.

“I think that means no.” Micky said to Geary.

“I think you’re right.” Geary shot off a few rounds in the terrorists general direction. “This is going to get messy when the army shows up. I don’t want this guy to die.”

“Me neither.” Micky agreed. “I want him to rot in prison for what he did to her.”

“So, what’s the plan?”

“I take him out.” Micky stated crouching down. “You cover me.”

Geary jumped out spraying bullets towards the ceiling as Micky ran at the guy. He body slammed him into the wall as the gun flew out of his hands. Micky grabbed hold of the guy’s head and bounced it off the wall a few times until he was sure the guy was out cold.

Geary dropped the gun and he and Micky ran into the bedroom. Geary got to Kristi first and began untying her. Micky untied the other woman that was being held.

“Are you both alright?” Geary asked.

“Yes.” Kristi answering falling into Geary’s arms. “I can’t believe you’re here.” She held onto him for dear life.

“Of course I’m here, baby.” He gently picked her up in his arms and carried her downstairs leaving Micky to help the other woman.

By the time they got downstairs, army personnel were everywhere. Julia rushed to Micky. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, Jules, I’m fine.” He looked around. “Where’s Kris?”

“She and Geary were already escorted outside.” She answered. “Colonel Duke wants us to come to headquarters to be debriefed. We can catch up with them there.”
