Submitted by Colleen Hunt, Department of Education Policies Commission for Business and Economic Education Burton Kaliski, 2001-2002 Chairperson Members of the Policies Commission for Business and Economic Education complete two new statements during the 2001-2002 year: This We Believe About Partnerships in Business Education (Statement 70) and This We Believe About the Need for Business Education (Statement 71). These statements will be distributed widely to business educators and will appear in the October 2002 issue of the Business Education Forum. The statements provide important information for business educators that can be used to support their business education programs, particularly in times of curricular change. Statement 70, for example, defines the value of partnerships. Statement 71 presents the case for business education as a mandate for all, not an option for some. The Policies Commission is the spokesperson for the entire field of business and economic education on policies that bring about a better understanding of business and economic education. The statements entitled "This We Believe" have been distributed continuously since 1961. They clarify existing and emerging issues and provide direction, guide research, and promote business education. All business educators are encouraged to distribute the statements freely and provide them to any for whom they provide insight and direction. Delta Pi Epsilon, the Business Education Division of ACTE, and the National Business Education Association sponsor and support the Policies Commission. The most recent statements are available on the NBEA web site (www.nbea.org, Curriculum Forum, Policy Statements). A book of all statements (1-71) published throughout the years of PCBEE (1961-present) is available for purchase for $10 from Dr. Betty Brown, the Executive Director of the Policies Commission for Business and Economic Education.
