Version 4.0 Beta 2:

Version 4 is the first released version, mainly because it is the first version which comes close to working. There are still some problems with it, and I would appreciate it if you could report any bugs you find besides the ones listed here. Thanks alot.

Specs:

The file currently being worked on is a constantly open RANDOM type file, allowing for theoretically unlimited file size. (There is in this version a technical limit of 30,000 lines, but I doubt any one will ever reach that. It's approx. 500 pages, and your machine will most likely crap out before that!) This method works due to the disk buffer, allowing for many reads and writes to this file without slow operation. As of now, this program saves only ordinary text files, and loads them as well, but has more difficulty loading them due to some of the issues discussed later. The ProWriter is constantly in word wrapping mode, I hope to eventually change this to include long lines of many charachters as in the MS-DOS edit.com.

Bugs:

As of now, there are no known bugs, there may still be some with the delete/backspace handler associated with carriage returns, but apparently the problem has been fixed!

In the next release:

Beta 2 is the final Version 4 release. Version 5 will use the same typing engine as Version 4, but with many more features. Included will be mouse support, a drastically improved GUI, and possibly even cut and paste. Version 5 will probably write it's own file format to make documents easier to edit off of a load. If this happens, there will be the capability to import and export ASCII files.
