Code of Ethics and Professional Standards

  • Never demand goods or services from businesses, restaurants, vendors, etc.
  • Never take advantage of a restaurant that invites you for a meal by ordering the most expensive items on the menu. Always leave a generous gratuity.
  • If a restaurant invites only the concierge, do not impose by bringing a guest or by requesting an exception.
  • Always thank the host before you depart and follow up by sending a thank you card.
  • Always conduct yourself in a professional manner when attending functions.
  • Always dress appropriately and avoid excessive drinking when attending functions or meetings.
  • Never give invitations intended for concierges to others.
  • Be polite, courteous and helpful to everyone you come in contact with.
  • Always use proper language. Never appear frustrated or overworked.
  • Never show impatience in front of guests. Remain calm in all circumstances.
  • Do not misuse your position of authority.
  • It is unethical to accept financial retributions from restaurants.
  • Never practice nor permit discrimination of any kind.
  • Never assist guests in illegal activities.
