The Open Source MC's began in 1998 when DJG met Makks and the pair combined to form a songwriting team. The original focus was hip-hop music, made with very little equipment. As the vision grew, so did the amount of equipment and the idea of what Open Source could or should be. The crew name Open Source MC's was chosen because we liked the idea of being an "open" crew...anybody who wanted to try and contribute could. OpenSource Output is the name DJG chose for the actual label that would represent any given number of musicians from any given number of musical styles. We are an artist run record label dedicated to putting out quality music, time and time again.
