This shot was taken just before Kokololio Ridge connects to Kaipapa`u Ridge. The ridge in the picture is Kokololio and way down low is the iron wood forest which would lead us across to Aakakii Ridge.
Speaking of iron wood forests. But before we got that low Dick began to fall behind. Again it was not for health or conditioning reasons. He was just doing a better job clearing than the rest of us. As a matter of fact once he asked if we had all "lost our machetes" :-). Just as we came to the ironwood forest we found a small one with many trunks blocking the trail. We cut a path around it. Dick again called and wanted to know why we didn't clear it. I told him we didn't have a saw. Knowing well that Bill always has a saw Dick saw thru that excuse. Oops, is that a "pun" :-) And he DID saw thru the blockage.
