Looking at this picture I see that Dayle was not at the head of the pack. Now that's something different. Here you can get an idea of the drop to the right!
There was lots of tall vegetation on the left and enough on the right to give a "virgin" summit crosser the confidence he needed. Gee the summit trail here seems sort of wide.
