Ęsop's Fables

"The Farmer and the Viper"
One
winter a farmer was walking in his fields when he came across a viper. The
viper was stiff from the cold weather an lay there paralyzed. Out of pity
the farmer took the viper and placed it into his tunic against his
bosom.
The viper soon revived,
thanks to the warmth of the farmer. Once he realized where he was he sank his
fangs deep into the farmers flesh. The farmer fell to the ground dying as
the viper slithered off into the cold field where he was originally found.

"Kindness is oftentimes wasted upon the
evil."
