Great job on practices this week! We've finally decided on music; as you all know, "The Empire Strikes Back Medley." It's easy, short, familiar, and we can play it. Perfect!
We need to schedule practices for Spring Break.
So far these are the conflicts I've been told about:
JROTC camp: 3/24-3/29
Cisco: away all break
Jeri: away 3/24-3/29
Anyone else? We can practice at Montague at school. My mom can give Kaneohe/Kailua people a ride to school; we can fit up to 5 additional people.
What time would be ideal for practice?
(Does anyone know Glenn's e-mail address?)

-Jeri are you interested?
Is this the final instrumentation? I will talk to the
band directors soon about getting music--do you guys
care what we play, or not? If you do, please contact
me somehow and we can arrange sometime that we can go
and pick something out. Ok, everyone, in general,
what kind of music do you want to play?
-classical
-"jazzy" (aaron's word)
-pop music: e.g., from a disney movie, pop song, etc.
-broadway music
-some unknown thing that sounds cool?
-anything else?
Another thing--do we need a conductor? Anyone know any conductors? It would be good if they're a freshman, we may have to use an upperclassman however...If we're really really desparate, do you think Mr. Bridges or Mr. Graser would be willing?
Please reply. Thank you.
Hi everyone,
This is concerning the (no) talent show (a.k.a. "The Happy Happy Fun Fun Show"--don't ask me why) that we have once in a while in assembly. Now, seeing the sad state of the last one, don't you think we should do something about it?! Yes, that's right...we're going to make it worse!!
Here's the idea:
1. We get together and recruit as many band people as is necessary.
2. We get a band arrangement from Mr. Graser/ Mr. Bridges.
3. We learn the piece.
4. We sign up for the (no) talent show.
5. We do the (no) talent show.
Doesn't this sound like fun? Seriously. Even though it may sound kind of far-fetched now, I think we can do it! And, I know, its scary to go up in front of the whole class, but think of it this way: We'll be in a group! We can say we did the show! We don't have to sit with our homerooms!
Mrs. Ashford said that they are definitely having another show, it's definitely going to be after spring break, but she's not sure when sign-ups are. So I think we should probably get all this organized first. Please send or tell people whose e-mails I don't know...thanks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to force you to do this. Just do it if it sounds like fun. It doesn't have to be perfect, so don't stress about that. Everyone will be in gamma sleep mode anyways.
So far, the instrumentation based on the people I sent this to is: 3 clarinets; 1 flute; 4 trumpets; 1 trombone. So as you can see the instrumentation is a little off (definitely not enough clari's! j/j) if we're going to do a full band thing. Maybe we could recruit Glenn (tuba), Chris G. (sax), Dale (sax), David H. (French horn), etc. I don't know people, let alone their emails...if you know anyone interested please tell them. Or we could just do a screwed up ensemble thing.
One more thing: we don't have a conductor. I suppose, depending on the size of the group, we might or might not need one. anyways,
Please e-mail me back ASAP if you're interested. We need find out who and get a piece and START PRACTICING. Don't worry, for those of you auditoning for select band, we probably won't start till after, but I still need to know who's interested in doing this! Thanks. This can work if enough of you are willing. Remember, we can put the "talent" in "talent show." hahahah. Even if we screw up, hey, everyone loves comedy!!
