One of Stephen Chow early hits
and superstar in making. Although the movie title is called 'Legend of the
Dragon' and starring two old school kung-fu stars -
Leung Kar Yan and Yuen Wah and
action directed by Corey Yuen; this movie is not a kung-fu movie. Despite
containing some kung-fu scenes, it is another Stephen Chow's parody - this
time gambling on pool. Stephen Chow once again proves he can almost
single-handedly save any movie from sinking and this movie is surprisingly
pretty fun and entertaining. The romance between Tess Mo and Chow is somewhat
half-baked and laughable, but Jimmy White does a good job in an extended cameo
as Chow's pool opponent. His acting is not bad and his smile is quite evil,
unlike Chow's smile. But it is Chow was wins and cashes the check here. Once
again Chow an underdog and ends up winning, but the story is not important as
the laughs are more. Well this is a good example of a Stephen Chow's comedy
with a mixture of kung-fu, parody, jokes, pool - this is an good example of an
early Chow's works and a recommendation to any Chow's fans.
